Program Committee ~ Shelley Schultz, Briana Hinz, Bonnie Ben-nett and Vicki Youngerberg
Program meetings are held to educate
us in the world of Zonta – Empowerment of Women
through Service and Advocacy, support like-minded
organizations, socialize and share a meal with our Zis-
ters and guests. Please make sure the following dates
are reserved on your calendar: Aug. 27, Sept 24,
Oct. 22, Dec – Christmas celebration, April 28,
May 26 (Annual Mtg) and June 23. These events
begin at 5:15pm at locations that will include a light
meal. Topics that we are researching are… impact of
Zonta International projects, SURGE, CADA Kids,
Women’s Health topics, 16 Days of Activism ( Novem-
ber 25 – Dec 10 ), and Women’s Empowerment Prin-
ciples. We are open to your ideas so please feel free
to contact one of us if you have a suggestions for a
speaker or topic.
Service Committee ~ Sue Frost, Pat
Will, Kathy Thielges, Vicki Young
The Service committee would like to thank the club for their support in increasing the amount for our YWPA and JMK Scholarships. We are hopeful that the increase to $1500/ scholarship will spike more interest in applying. We will be using this next year to explore the feasibility of adding another schol-arship for an adult woman returning to college.
Our first service project, the Clothes Closet at Encore, will be on Sept 15. We need 8 volunteers for each of two shifts. We are especially in need of volunteers from 6-7:30. If you can help out please notify Vicky Young. The next one is scheduled for Oct 15.
Don't forget your contributions for the Habitat for Hu-manity welcome baskets. These donations can be brought to any of our meetings or given to Vicki Young or any of the members of our Service Commit-tee as soon as possible. We are also looking for me-dium to medium large baskets that you might want to donate. If you have forgotten what you are asked to contribute please contact Sue Frost. Baskets this year will also contain a first aid kit and information regard-ing health and safety issues as well as services pro-vided by Open Door Health Center.
We are working on the CADA kids project in conjunc-tion with CADA. Stay tuned for more information and
please be sure to attend the program meeting in Sep-tember which will feature Renita Robinson talking about CADA Kids.
Habitat baskets will include food items with
the theme:
Rice that there may always be food in your home
Bread that there may always be friends and family to
share with
Salt that there always is a little spice in your life
Sugar that sweetness touches even your worst days
Candles that you may always find your way back
home
Wine (sparkling juice) that there may always be
reason to celebrate.
Since each committee has 4 members we are asking
that each member contribute one item (more if you
wish) of what your committee has been assigned:
Membership -2# bag white rice.
Finance -box salt.
Program -5# white sugar.
PR -2 candles each.
Service -Bread and juice.
Fashion show, Kayaking, Walk a mile and Kate -any of
the above-please coordinate with each other.
We ask items be donated as soon as possible and
given to any member of service committee. In addi-
tion to food items we will include info on nutrition,
health and safety, services provided by ODHC and a
small First Aid kit. Any member that has medium
sized baskets they no longer have use for, we would
appreciate those donations as well.

Moon Dogs ~ Sue Frost
Moon Dogs ticket taking is over. Thanks to all who signed up
and volunteered. Special thanks to those who agreed to take
2 shifts and those who got stuck with the double header and had to work
longer. I do not know how much money we will receive but when it ar-
rives in late fall, you will be informed.

We had a great Meet & Greet Happy Hour at
Chankaska Winery in July. There were 6 guests and
several Zontians on a beautiful night in a beautiful
setting!
Just a reminder if anyone has someone that they
would like to learn more about Zonta, please invite
them to join us at a Business meeting or Program
meeting. You can forward their information to any
one on the committee and we will follow up with
them.
The committee also sent cards and flowers to our Zis-
ters that need some extra support at this time. We
are thinking of our former President, Diane Volden,
who lost her husband in July. Ron was a very special
man and did a lot for the community. Here is a link
to his obituary.

The Zonta Star goes to Debbie Kolstad and Barb
Bergman for all of their hard work planning the
final Blooming Pretty Garden Tour. Their idea to
team up with the Betsy Tacy Society and have a
walking tour of the historic gardens associated with
the books was a great idea!

SURGE!TM is a leadership program for High School girls adapted from a proven adult executive
leadership curriculum. It is designed to help girls understand their own ability to control their fu-
ture through their strengths, positive thinking, goal-setting and planning.
August 18 - 21 - 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Any day or amount of time appreciated! Ideally, we would like a volunteer to stay for the whole
afternoon, but we can be very flexible!
Friday, August 21 is a horse day - outside extended learning with horses :)
Dress is CASUAL all week. And, if attending the horse afternoon, please be sure to dress for the weather, wear closed
-toe shoes, and bring sunscreen, bug spray, hats, etc.
If you have anyone interested in volunteering, or would like to work with Judy for next year’s camp, let Judy Ringler
Mountain know.
Former Zontian Cate DeBates and Greg Weis met
while modeling in the 2013 ZONTA Fashion show.
They got engaged at a MoonDogs game this June and
are planning a wedding for Sept 2016. Congratu-
lations to the happy couple!
We are looking forward to the ZONTA fashion Show
this November!
Fashion Show Wine Wall ~ Sue Frost, Pat Will, Antje Meisner
We are now accepting wine for the Fashion Show Wine Wall and wine can be given to any one of us on the
wine wall committee. Just a reminder that the wine should be worth $10 or more/bottle. Next month we will
have a sign up sheet for contacting businesses, etc.
The night of the fashion show we will also be selling cute little wine cork key rings. We will be meeting at
Pat Will's house on August 19 at 7:00 pm to start to assemble the key rings. We anticipate working only
about 1-11/2 hours.
