The objective of education is not just to impart academic knowledge, but also to ensure the overall development of students. Education is complete and achieves its purpose only when the students become equipped to meet the challenges in every field of life, be it educational, social or cultural. Every year JK Group of institution unfurl the colors of competitions, creativity, enthusiasm and team spirit amongst the younger generation in the age of cut-throat competition by organizing the cultural activities in their campus. This year also JK Group of Institutions organized three days Zonal Youth Festival, 2012 sponsored by Department of Youth and Cultural Affairs, Kurukshetra University Kurukshetra which provides an unparalleled forum for the students to test their intellectual and artistic prowess. The opportunity that the Youth Festival offers them to exhibit their skills and talents in the field of culture, literary and other activities on a common platform certainly helps to facilitate their overall development. It opens before the students, new vistas of competition and at the same time, shows the strength of camaraderie, the pleasure of participation and the satisfaction of being part of one of the largest celebrations of their student life. What makes the University Youth festival special is that it is an event fully organized by the students themselves. Every moment and activity of the Festival were planned and carried out by the students, with the guidance and support of the Department of Youth & Cultural Affairs and event co-ordinators. The plethora of events held under The Zonal Youth Festival, when it opened its Pandora's box of Multiple events like Folk Song General, Light Vocal, Western Vocal Solo, Haryanvi Solo Dance, Haryanvi Pop Song, Classical Dance, Haryanvi Ghazal, Classical Instrumental Solo, One Act Play, Choreography, Mime, Sanskrit Drama, Saang, Haryanvi Skit etc it attracted the participants, audience or the eminent judges.A good number of participants from various Institutions of Haryana, affiliated to Kurukshetra University Kurukshetra, participated with great enthusiasm in the function. In the Zonal Youth festival all the institutes, affiliated with Kurukshetra University, were eligible for participation and many of them participated very enthusiastically. In a short span of time, JK Group of Institutions celebrated the Zonal Youth Festival with full zeal and zest. Participants from different colleges enjoyed and exhibited their talent and spell bound everyone present there .The eminent personalities from various corporate sectors and the participants from various Institutions appreciated the efforts of the organizing team and congratulated the Institution for the Grand Festival. stOn 21 of October, Light Indian Vocal was held at JK Group of Institutions,

st In the sequel of events, on 21 of October, Western vocal solo was held. The human voice is really the foundation of all music; and whatever the development of the musical art, however bold the composer's combinations, however brilliant the virtuoso's execution, in the end they must always return to the standard set

by vocal music. Hopefully the approach taken here, primarily tracing the development of opera will be more informative. For

as Paul Bekker pointed out in his book, The Changing Opera, "...the singing voice is the root from which the opera has sprouted and

grown...the form of the opera arises from the voice; it becomes physically perceptible in such shape as is dictated by the development

of the voice...the history of opera becomes the history of the voice."The panel of judges included Sh.Wariyam Mast, Dr. Deepika; Sh. Anil Soni who

evaluated the teams on the basis of their creativity & performance. There were five teams in this event.

stOn 21 of October Haryanvi Solo Dance Competition was held at JK Group of Institutions, Karnal. This is a seasonal dance of the farmers usually performed in the month of 'Phalgun'. This is a mixed dance but sometimes performed by men only. Women wear colorful traditional clothes and men display colorful turbans. The dance is accompanied by the beats of 'Tasha', 'Nagada', and 'Dhol'. Loor: A well known dance of Haryana. This competition brought a sense of confidence and joy to the students.

stJK Group of Institutions organized a One Act Play on 21 October, 2012. It is a play that has only one act, as distinct from plays that occur over several

acts. One Act Play may consist of one or more scenes. In recent years, the 10-minute play known as "flash drama" which has emerged as a popular sub-

genre of the one-act play, especially in writing competitions. The origin of the one-act play may be traced to the very beginning of drama.

events on 21 October, 2012 the Haryanvi Orchestra was held in which a large instrumental ensemble that contains sections of string, brass, woodwind, and percussion instruments was used. The concept of Haryanvi Orchestra was unique that it gave a platform to young talented people to showcase their abilities to perform with creativity. The Institute invited Prof. D.D. Arora, Dean of Colleges, K.U.K as Chief Guest. This contest was judged by Dr. Mukesh Verma, Sh. Manish Trikha and Dr. Tejinder. Various institutes participated in this event.

ndOn 22 of October, Western Group Song was held at JK Group of Institutions, Karnal in which the individuals sing the song in group and in

western form of singing with their instruments. The competition brought a sense of confidence and joy to the students and audience.

Kurukshetra University was the CHIEF GUEST. The music of the western group song was unique in the sense that it gave a

platform to young talented people of good voice to showcase their abilities to perform with creativity. This contest was judged by

who evaluated the teams on the basis of their creativity & performance. Kurukshetra Institute of Technology & Management, Kurukshetra participated in this event and this team got the Recommended Position in this event.

The judges gave their valuable suggestions to the

students and congratulated the JK Group of Institutions for conducting such a competition for encouraging the talent of the youngsters, and appreciated the efforts of the Institutions for

organizing the fest and making the each event successful. In this event, Kurukshetra Institute of Technology & Management,

Kurukshetra participated and exhibit their talent and got the Recommended Position.

ndOn 22 October 2012 JK Group of Institutions organized Haryanvi Group Song. Haryanvi group song is the format in which individuals sing the song in only Haryanvi language with their own instruments. According to rules only one entry per college is allowed and the duration of the performance was 5 to 7 minutes, The judgement was made on the basis of quality of singing only and not on the basis of make-up, costumes and actions of the team Sh. S.K. Gandhi, Branch Manager, OBC, Karnal was invited as Distinguished Guest.

In this event Kurukshetra Institute of Technology & Management participated and got the Recommended Position.

This contest was judged by Mrs. Samriti Bhardwaj, Dr. Mukesh Verma and Sh. Sunil Sant.
