INTRODUCTION
1. General
This manual gives all the necessary data to understand the function, repair and overhaul of the equipment. Air Transport Association of America specification ATA 100, Revision 34, was used to prepare this CMM. The “Association Européenne des Constructeurs de Matériel Aérospatial” simplified English document PSC-85-16598, Revision 4, was also used. An Illustrated Part List is included as a part of the CMM.
This manual gives the procedures tested by the manufacturer in the workshop. Thus, a technician, under part 145 certification, who does not know the equipment, can do the maintenance procedure given in this manual.
The maintenance instructions are given in these sections :
1 - 99 - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
101 - 199 - TESTING AND FAULT ISOLATION
201 - 299 - AUTOMATIC TEST REQUIREMENTS (To be used later)
301 - 399 - DISASSEMBLY
401 - 499 - CLEANING
501 - 599 - CHECK
601 - 699 - REPAIR
701 - 799 - ASSEMBLY AND STORAGE
801 - 899 - FITS AND CLEARANCES
901 - 999 - TOOLS AND SPECIAL EQUIPMENT
1001 - 1099 - ILLUSTRATED PARTS LIST
Simulation has been used to verify the disassembly and assembly procedures. This manual does not give Standard Practices or how frequently the procedures must be done. The applicable local-approved practices must be used.
2. Effectivity
The effectivity of the data in this manual is shown in the part number at the top of each page. When only the basic part number is shown (the first four digits), the page is effective for all variants of equipment’s with that number. When a suffix to the basic part number is shown (fifth, sixth and seventh digits), the page is only effective for that variant of the equipment.

Gages 792795-x include a low level and a high level detector.
The level detectors are secured to the external tube by a clamp(s). Their wiring is held in position by plastic clamps.
3. Operation
Gages 7923xx-x have only one function :
- to measure the quantity of fuel remaining in their respective tanks.
Gages 79279x-x have two functions :
- to measure the quantity of fuel remaining in their respective tanks.
- to detect one (gages 792794-x) or two (gages 792795-x) given level(s) of fuel.
A. Measuring the quantity of fuel
The gage forms a capacitor whose two tubes act as conductors. The dielectric of this capacitor is constituted by fuel or ambient air.
As the dielectric constant of the fuel used is approximately twice that of air, then a vertical capacitor is placed in a tank, the capacitance of the capacitor varies as a function of the fuel level.
Provided the base area and the depth of the tank are known the value of this capacitance provides the indication concerning the quantity of fuel.
As the shape of the tank is not symmetrical. The surface of the internal tube is shaped so that the capacitance varies linearly with the quantity of fuel measured by the gage, thus allowing for use of a fuel remaining gage having linear scale dial.
B. Level detection
A 28 V D.C. positive voltage is applied to the level detector input.

- When the fuel level is higher than the level for which the level detector is actuated, the plunger is in the up positon and the magnet integral with the plunger magnetically releases the spring blade switch ; the latter is then open, and electrical current does not flow.
- When the fuel level is lower than the level for which the level detector is actuated, the plunger is in the down position, the magnet integral with the plunger is opposite the spring blade switch ; the latter magnetically closes, and establishes continuity : current flows and supplies the indicator light.

INTRODUCTION
1. General
The Illustrated Parts List (IPL) gives data to identify replacement parts for the unit. The part numbers are given in the sequence of disassembly. The IPL is divided into this introduction, which gives data and instructions on how to use the IPL, and these sections are:
- Vendor code list,
- Equipment designator index,
- Numerical index,
- Detailed parts list.
2. Vendor code index
Vendor codes, which have the capital letter "V" in front of them, are used in the nomenclature column of the detailed parts list (DPL) to identify the source of supply. A list of these codes and the manufacturer's name and address is given in the vendor code list (VCL). Where there is no code number the full name of the manufacturer is included in the nomenclature column of the DPL.
3. Equipment designator index
The equipment designator index (EDI) provides a cross reference between the circuit references of electronic components and figure/item numbers. The component references are listed in alphanumeric order.
4. Numerical index
The numerical index (NI) is given in alphanumeric sequence in two parts. All PNs listed in the DPL list are shown. The "Total Required" column shows the total quantity for each figure and item number of PN listed. A stock number column is given for airline use. Optional PNs are sometimes shown in this column.

5. Detailed parts list
The DPL gives PNs and their related illustrations. The indenture system, which shows the relation of the data, is given below. A stock number column is given for airline use.
1234567 Attaching parts for assembly . Detailed parts for assembly . Subassembly . Attaching parts for subassembly * * * . . Detail parts for subassembly . . Sub-subassembly . . Attaching parts for sub-subassembly * * * . . . Detail parts for sub-subassembly
The attaching parts are shown directly after the assembly, subassembly or sub-subassembly that they attach. They are listed at the same indenture level as the item they attach and are identified as "Attaching Parts". Asterisks follow the attaching parts to show that the list of attaching parts is complete.
NOTE : A dash (-) in front of the item number in the "Figure and Item" column identifies items that are not illustrated.
6. How to use the illustrated parts l ist
A. Part number known
When the PN is known, refer to the NI will give you the figure and item number for the part. Use the figure and item number to refer to data about the part in the applicable illustration or the DPL.
B. Part number unknown
When the PN is unknown, find the illustration that shows the applicable part. Then use the item number given in the illustration to refer to data about the part in the DPL.
