Why would Jesus go on a vacation? Why do we go

on vacations? Remember Jesus was a man and

needed rest like everyone else. Jesus went to the

region of Tire and Sidon (Phenicia, part of Syria).

Why there? Perhaps it was to show the disciples that

the blessings of God also extended to the impure

Gentiles. Our text says that He did not want to be

discovered, perhaps because He wanted to rest a

little. In Galilee his ministry was facing a time of

rejection, of distrust, of people who approached him

to look for errors, instead of seeking solutions. Jesus

vacation and rest were interrupted by a Canaanite

woman. There were great obstacles between the

woman and Jesus. And yet, she showed a humble

and persevering faith. She believed Jesus had the

power to solve her challenges. She humbled herself

and accepts to receive only the remnants of God's

blessings. She humbles herself and accepts what

God wants for her. Jesus answered and praised the

woman's faith. Notice faith is not about background,

nor someone’s past, nor their dignity, nor their good

condition. Faith implies submission, trust, transferring

control over the situation to another. Faith says: The

Lord can do what is needed, and he will do as he

pleases. What a great blessing faith is for the believ-

er.

Questions: 1. Where do go on vacation? Why did he go there? 2. How was Jesus ministry being accepted in

Galilee? 3. What does true faith imply?

7. What will God do for the exiled Israelites?

8. What promise does God make for all people?

THE EPISTLE LESSON: Romans 11:1-2a,13-15,28-32

5. What does their acceptance accomplish?

6. What does the Apostle say about God's gifts?

7. How did all people at one time act towards God?

8. What does God show to all men?
