Meðunarodna izložba umjetnièke fotografije “Otok i more” prošla je svojih prvih deset godina. Poèevši 1996. godine, o izložbi je svake godine tiskan katalog i plakat. Svake sljedeãe godine poveãavao se broj izlagaèa i zemalja iz kojih su autori. Sudjelovali su autori iz 48 zemalja diljem svijeta. Svakom autoru poslan je katalog pa je izložba ostavila trag i u svim tim zemljama. Katalozi su pohranjeni u svim hrvatskim foto klubovima, Gradskoj knjižnici u Zadru, Znanstvenoj knjižnici u Zadru i Nacionalnoj knjižnici u Zagrebu.

Od svojeg poèetka izložba je dobivala pokroviteljstva društvenih i strukovnih udruga, od Opãine Kukljica, Zajednice tehnièke kulture Županije zadarske, Hrvatskog foto saveza Zagreb, Amerièkog fotografskog saveza PSA i Meðunarodne fotografske organizacije FIAP. To ju je trajno obilježilo u fotografskoj izložbenoj djelatnosti, od ovog otoka do najznaèajnijih svjetskih autora današnjice.

Zbirka kataloga i plakata izložbe “Otok i more” ovako ukorièena u knjigu najbolje predstavlja izložbu kao cjelinu. Tiskane fotografije u katalozima pružaju dojam o izložbama i fotografskim djelima iz razdoblja od 1996. do 2005. godine. U katalogu plakata tiskano je deset plakata kojima su oglašavane izložbe.

U sjeni raslinja mog vrta razgovarajuãi o poèetku izložbe “Otok i more”, potporu poèetku izložbe iskazao mi je Marinko Boško. On je dizajnirao kataloge i plakate u poèetku. To je doprinijelo promidžbi izložbe.

Oduvijek je Kukljica, kao kuk ili kamen na puèini mora, bila otvorena prema svijetu, a posjeãivao ju je i svijet. Postavom prve meðunarodne izložbe zapoèelo je novo razdoblje u likovnoj i kulturnoj djelatnosti u Kukljici i slikovnu otvorenost prema svijetu. Prva meðunarodna izložba u Kukljici održana je 1996. godine, taman kad je rat utihnuo. Katalog te prve izložbe bio je skroman, ali s puno mara za autore i izložbu; uspjeh je bio potpun. Najbolje o tijeku širenja izložbe pokazuju katalozi u ovoj zbirci.

Ploveãi deset godina s izložbom “Otok i more”, zabilježio sam nezaboravne slike i susreo brojne ljude s pogledima nevere i bonace. Njihova imena i izlagana djela su u ovih deset kataloga. Probrane slike doèaravaju izložbe na kojima su njihovi stvaratelji donosili svoj zavièaj i daleka mora u galeriju “Otok”.

The International Exhibition “Island and Sea” has passed its first ten years. Starting in 1996, each year there was a printed catalogue and a poster as well. Each following year there was a greater number of participants and countries where the authors came from. Authors from 48 countries from all over the world have participated. Each author was sent a catalogue so that the exhibition has left records in countries all over the world. The catalogues have been deposited in all Croatian photo-clubs, in Zadar's City Library, in Zadar's Scientific Library and in National Library in Zagreb. Since its beginning, the exhibition has been sponsored by public and professional associations, by the Municipality of Kukljica, by the Community of Technical Culture of Zadar County, Croatian Photographic Union Zagreb, Photographic Society of America (PSA) and International Federation of Photographic Art FIAP. This has left an everlasting mark in the field of photographic exhibitions starting from this island to the most remarkable authors of today.

The hardcover collection of catalogues and posters “Island and Sea” in the best way represents the exhibition as a whole. The photographs printed in the catalogues depict the exhibitions and the works of photography during the period between 1996 and 2006. In the catalogue of posters there are ten posters which were used to advertise the exhibitions.

In the shades of the plants of my garden, conversing about the beginning of the exhibition “Island and Sea”, it was Marinko Boško who gave me support. He was the one to design the catalogues and the posters in the beginning. This contributed to the beginning of the exhibition.

Since the beginning of times Kukljica has been as a hip (kuk) or a stone at the open sea, always open to the world and the world has been paying visits to it ever since. By designing the first international exhibition a new era and a pictorial openness in the artistic and cultural activities of Kukljica has started.The first exhibition in Kukljica was put on show in 1996, just after the war had ended. Although the catalogue was unpretentious, the success was complete since the organisers took care of the authors and the exhibition. The development of the exhibition is best shown in the catalogues in this collection. While sailing together with the exhibition “Island and Sea” for ten years, I recorded unforgettable pictures of numerous people with rough or calm sea in the look of their eyes. Their names and exhibited works are in these ten catalogues. The chosen pictures evoke exhibitions where their authors brought their homeland and the distant seas to the “The Island” gallery.
