FIRST GROUND EXPERIMENT
Background
There are two main differences between this ground test configuration and the in-space configuration that must be accounted to allow for meaningful comparisons between the test results and theory. These differences are the effect of gravity and the pivoting boundary condition on the top end of the tether.
However the purpose of this ground experiment was only to examine the theory of the proposed Tilger. In the next experiment, in the micro-gravity environment we will focus more on the differences and try to simulate the differences.
