The ZANT Community came out in a big way to celebrate the Maidyarem Gahambar. What a wonderful outpouring of community spirit we experi-enced when over 180 people gathered under one roof to enjoy good home cooking and each others company! We are truly grateful to all those who stepped forward to bear the burden of cooking and equally grateful for those
who participated in this traditional gathering.
We are excited and encouraged by this turn out and are beginning to plan the next such event. To date, we have 4 families stepping forward to sponsor / co-sponsor ZANT’s upcoming gahambars. We would encourage more of you to
do the same.
August and September are going to be busy months for our ZANT Commu-nity and we encourage each of you to take part in the activities that are the most meaningful to your family. Maybe the religious aspects of the Muktad prayers have great significance or maybe the camaraderie of selling falooda at our long running Anand Bazaar stall peaks your interest. If you are the sports enthusiast, consider joining ZANT's new soccer team and taking part in the Unity Cup which will be held in Los Angeles over Labor Day week-end. September will be the month of our Fravardegan Jashan and possibly our
second gahambar.
We are truly blessed to have a young, vibrant and growing community of Zar-thusthis here in the North Texas area. It is up to each of us to step forward
and make our community stronger. Thank you for all that you do for ZANT.

Maidyarem Gahambar, held on June 7, 2009 was an after-noon to remember, full of feasting and fun! In all, 144 adults and 37 kids enjoyed a traditional Gahambar meal with many extras thanks to our 'angel' chefs. This event was free to our ZANT members because the Balsara family stepped forward to sponsor this Gahambar in memory of their dad & uncle, Cawas & Behram K. Todiwalla . ZANT would like to thank them for their generosity as well as for their efforts in organizing and cooking for this event. In order for a total of 181 people to be fed, there needed to be dedicated volunteers toiling away in their kitchens all over the Dallas Metroplex. Our thanks again to the following individuals who stepped forward to feed the community: Kashmira Mistry, Dilnawaz Rustomji, Ar-navaz Vakharia, Zenobia Adi, Dinaz Contractor, Mahnaz Sohrab, Pearl Balsara, Khurshid Jamadar, Anita Patel, Ze-nobia Dadyburjor, Paricher Foroodi, Mahbanoo Behroozi, Rubina Jamshidi, Parvin Mogha-dam, Nazanin Ghadially, Keshvar Buhariwalla, Del-naaz Irani, Monaz Karkaria, Charlotte Kharas, Poras Bal-sara, Abbey Patel, Saghar and Kamran Behroozi, Parivash Namiranian, Farieda Irani, and Delna and Boman Godi-walla. To each of you, we say thank you for your labor of
love for our ZANT Community.
On Saturday, June 20th, ZANT participated in the Gujrati
Samaj Mela by selling our famous falooda and raising about $450.00 for ZANT. Thanks to our volunteers: Pearl, Poras and Burzin Balsara, Keshvar Buhariwalla, Behram and Dinaz Contractor, Mahnaz Irani, Delnaaz and Anaiza Irani, Khurshid and Jamshed Jamadar and Anahita and Feroz Sidhwa. Congratulations to Burzin Balsara who won first place in the Gujarati speaking contest for children and
Anaiza Irani was a runner-up.
On Father’s Day, Lake Ray Roberts was the ideal location for fathers and kids alike. The 40 adults and 16 kids who joined in the festivity, all enjoyed the Sunday afternoon on the beach, in the water and under the pavilion sharing time together with friends and family. The sandy beach was a great place for kids to build sand castles and the lake en-ticed the dads to swim all the way out to the furthest buoy. With that much activity, every one was sure hungry for the delicious BBQ arranged by Yazdi Kharas. ZANT would like to thank all those who participated in this won-derful afternoon, but especially thank Yazdi for coordinat-ing the food, renting the pavilion and overall ensuring that
everyone had an enjoyable day.

If you were not one of the fortunate ones to be on the ZANT tour of the Forth Worth Bureau of En-
graving and Printing facility, we would highly recommend you find time to experience the money factory for yourselves. With millions and millions of dollars printed there each day, it is a trip well worth taking! The kids and parents alike were awed by the stack and stacks of money being printed right before their eyes. It was a great learn-ing experience for all. So next time you are exam-ining your paper bills, and want to know if they were printed right here in Forth Worth, look for the small FW printed on the notes. If you were on the tour you will know exactly where to look, if not,
well ask an attendee, they will clue you in.

Saturday, July 4th is soon approaching as is the water festival of Tirgan and Maidyoshem Gahambar
(Fasli), ZANT will be celebrating both events at Bob Woodruff Park - North Pavilion from 4:00 pm on-wards. Even though this is a pot-luck style gather-ing, Charlotte Kharas has graciously volunteered to make her ZANT renowned hamburgers for this event. All those who have had these burgers in the past will testify to their superior taste and quality! There is only one catch; You MUST RSVP and be on the hamburger list in order to enjoy the dinner. So if you would like to participate in the hamburger/hot dog dinner with chips and a bottle of water, please bring $5 per person to the picnic and email Keshvar or call and get your name on the burger list. We ask that you also bring items to share as well as beverages of your choice and make this a true Tirgan Feast. There will be beach volleyball games and water throwing fun to be had all day long. Then, enjoy the evening with your
ZANT family with the fireworks display at 9:30 pm.
Did you forget that we also have a Chili cook-off planned for the day? So break out your secret recipes
and come prepared for some serious competition.

Children’s Religious Class:
Our next religious class will be held on Sunday, July
12 2009 at 11:30 am, at the Balsara Residence.

contact Pearl Balsara.

Religious Class
At the June religious class, the “little kids” got into pairs with the older kids using a matching game involving religious symbols and words. The symbols were discussed and then the older kids helped the younger ones play a game called "I am a Good Zar-
thushti”. The children spun a wheel and came to pictures on a game board. They had to identify whether the person in the picture was being 'good' or not. If the person was being good, the game piece went forward, if not, the game piece had to go back. In the last part of the class, we joined Aunty Pearl's group to watch a film showing the transporting of the holy 'Atarsh' to the new Jokhi
agiary in Mumbai.
The “Middle-age” class discussed the “3 categories (types) of
Fire-temples”….
• Atash Behram, Atash Adaran (Agiary) & Atash Dadgah.
• The different sources of fires that are used in consecrating the
fire for the 1st two categories
• Prayers & ceremonies involved in consecrating these two
fires
• The 2,000 year old (Oldest) Atash Behram at Sharifabad
(Iran)
• The Udvada (India’s Oldest) Atash Behram
The story of the “Enthronement of Pak Iranshah Saheb” at Udvada
The older children started out their class by helping the youngest children play a game made by Nina Aunty. During the second half, they continued to brainstorm and take notes for their game ideas. All games and materials will be made with a Zoroastrian twist. Some ideas include the Game of Life, Monopoly, etc. The plan is to have games children can play on their own at the ZANT
center which will focus on our religion, cultures and traditions.
We ended the class with all 3 groups & adults watching a video of
the “Enthronement in December 1999, of the Sacred Fire in
Jokhi Agiary (Godrej Baug – India) from Navsari Fire Tem-
ple”
