Our story began in 2009, when founding Chairman, Raymundo Yu, together with a group of like-minded individuals, answered a call to serve the physically challenged.

ABLE was incorporated on 25 October 2010. Our mission: to enable the physically challenged to live with dignity and to have a productive, meaningful and independent life.

Collaboration has been a cornerstone for our work. In the early years, we partnered Handicaps Welfare Association and Muscular Dystrophy Association on programmes for the physically challenged and their family caregivers.

From a project in 2013 to train and coach the physically challenged on accounting knowledge and skill with the objective of placing them under gainful employment, ABLE SEAS was formed in March 2015.

These early partnerships laid a foundation when we moved into Agape Village in October 2015, establishing our Rehabilitation & Training and Respite Centres.

Helping the physically challenged return to society. In the Return-to-Work programme our rehabilitation and employment support teams’ journey with clients, who have congenital or acquired physical disabilities. More than 40 clients have either returned to their work place or have been placed in new jobs.

Supporting the critical role of family caregivers of the physically challenged. Through sociABLE, we provide family caregivers a trusted programme where their care recipients are engaged and cared for by our programme

Zahir shares that “the Respite programmes have helped me build my confidence and independence. Nowadays, I am bit more talkative” (lol).

He enjoys all the programmes, like music and art therapy, cooking and most of all, the Person-To-Person befriending, especially the outings to various places.
