The Rosenthal Centre for Contemporary Arts is unlike most art museums that are conservative rectangular buildings. Hadid created an art piece that allows everyone the opportunity to experience art.

The building features oblique concrete planes that intersect with each other, that are created to shape and define the street. This represents the translation of Hadid’s drawings into a functional architectural space.

The light bounces freely throughout, giving the building a sense of movement and navigation.

Gives a sense of movement that Hadid intend for this building. All of the different “jenga” blocks slide into place and fit together.

The exterior is a piece of art itself, with the intention of inviting people in the building, Using a curved carpet like wall hanging from top to bottom.

What visitors feel when they enter the lobby. The natural light in this floor, creates a dwelling space for all

The curved wall, has a neutral texture and a pattern that resembles that of a real carpet. She uses concrete in the building, as a neutral material that reacts to light without altering it.

In order to bring an interesting contrast to the grey concrete walls, all of the stairs are black. This gives an idea to the visitor to follow the path to a new and unexpected space.

There are sudden changes of hight in the ceiling and the shape of the space, created by geomatic volumes. Each floor has a different height between the floor and the ceiling.

The skylight is positioned horizontally from east to west to allow for light to enter from all angles throughout the day. This separation of natural and artificial light subtly hints at the spaces intended for the art exhibits.
