Greetings Sorors and Welcome to May! Thanks to all of those that supported our State Executive Board Meeting! Congratulations to all winners! See pages 4, 5 & 12 for a listing of the awardees. Pictures will be featured in the June newsletter.

In this edition we address Zeta faux pas and review basic protocol (see page 2). For those of you that attended the protocol and parliamentary procedure workshops at the State meeting, the quizzes on pages 2 & 3 should be easy. Refresh your knowledge. Review the protocol manual and RONR for the answers and periodically to ensure proper behaviors.

Zeta Faux Pas (Embarrassing Social Mistakes)

Listed below are some of the common social mistakes. Thanks to Soror Jorelle Green for her contri-butions. Do you have more to add to the list? Please send them to zphibnjsocialmedia@gmail.com. Using the term Omega Chapter or Omega Service as the chapter or ritual for a deceased

Soror. The ritual is called the Burial Service. Omega Chapter is the chapter at Winston-Salem State University in North Carolina.

Using Greek Terminology in Public is not appropriate. Our colors are Royal Blue and White. Many Sorors learned Pure White. Our flower is the White Rose. Many Sorors learned White Tea Rose. One of our four principles is Sisterhood, not Sisterly Love. The official Sorority pin is worn over the apex of the heart, never on the right side. The first person to the microphone establishes protocol. Once it is established, no one else

should repeat it. Also, no one should say protocol having been established. When a ritual requires white attire, be sure to wear pure white, not off-white or winter

white. All black attire is to be worn for the Burial Ritual.

On Saturday, June 20th, our 13th New Jersey Director, Soror Gina Merritt-Epps, Esq. is being honored by the Brothers of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. Chi Sigma Chapter as their 2015 Zeta of the Year Honoree. This recognition will take place at Chi Sigma Chapters Sigma Beta Scholar-ship Luncheon on Saturday, June 20th at the Galloping Hill Inn, 325 Chest-nut Street, Union, NJ. It's that time of the year!! It is time to report your chapters and auxiliaries participation with the

Adopt-a-School Initiative. Use the steps below to completely submit your report.

1. Complete one form for any activities conducting from July 2014 - May 2015. 2. Duplicate the visit form as needed, if more than 7 visits were made as an chapter/auxiliary with at least 4

members present each time. 3. To receive Z-Points, upon completion of the project(s), request a letter or report on letterhead from the

school official detailing the school/class(es) progress and/or donations provided. 4. Attach a copy of the letter from the school with the Z-HOPE Adopt-a-School Program Reporting Form;

please complete all information on the form. 5. Regional/State/Local Coordinators, if you are currently in receipt of any forms, please forward them to

National & Regional Initiatives 56th Atlantic Regional Conference ZHOPE Initiative:

The Signature Elder Care INITIATIVE: Friends to the Elderly

Join the Awesome Atlantic Region as we raise $10,000 for Friends to the Elderly Senior Programs Throughout the Atlantic Region

Chapters and Auxiliaries can earn Z-HOPE Points with the following Donations:

Undergraduates/Graduates & Amicae $25=25 points /$50=50 points $50=50 points / $75=75 points

$75=75 points /$100=100 points

Chapters and Auxiliaries have that option to earn additional Z-HOPE Points. Chapters and Auxiliaries may begin submitting donations for Friends of the Elderly from November 1, 2014 to June 30, 2015. Donations and reporting forms received will be awarded towards the 2014 2015 sorority year. Chapters may also submit a second donation from July 1, 2015 October 1, 2015. Donations received from July 1, 2015 October 1, 2015 will be awarded towards the 2015 2016 sorority year. If your chapter submits donations in BOTH sorority years, the chapter will receive an additional 50 Bonus Points. (Note: The National Z-HOPE Program Reporting Form must be sent with all donations to the Regional Tamias Grammateus for points to be awarded.)

MEETING THE GOAL AND IMPACTING HOME

Our goal is to raise $10,000 for Elder Care Programs throughout the Awesome Atlantic Region. If $10,000 is raised, $5000 will be donated to Center in the Park in Philadelphia, PA. $1000 will be given to an Adult Day / Elder Care Center chosen by the remaining states. (DE, MD, NJ, NY and Tri-State) If we dont raise $10,000 all monies raised will be donated to Center in the Park in Philadelphia. We will accept donations from all Sorors, Chapters,

States, Amicae Auxiliaries, and Individuals.

April is Autism Awareness Month! The ladies of GNZ wore blue for #LIUB (Light it up Blue) Autism Awareness Day on April 2nd! Autism is a "Spectrum" Disorder. People with autism can be a little autistic or very autistic. Thus, it is possible to be bright, verbal, and autistic as well as have mental deficiencies, non-verbal and autistic. As a result of the broad range of symptoms, its often called a spectrum disorder; hence the term "autism spectrum disorder."

What a great Charterversary it was for the "Mother Pearl of New Jersey"! This year our original Chap-ter and Zeta Amicae of Camden Charters were un-earthed along with historic facts & artifacts about the our chapter family! Fact: Zeta Phi Beta So-rority, Inc. made is presence known in New Jer-sey on Thursday, March 25, 1948.

The Zeta Amicae of Moorestown held their annual Jazz Brunch on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at the Kove Caterers in Palmyra. The Kenny Gates Band graced the audience with jazz. There was good food, good music and good conversa-tion. The family of recently deceased Amica Pearlie Purvis was also in attendance. The ladies paid tribute to their Friend with poetry, flowers and kind words. The family made a presentation to Amica President Bertha Smith. The afternoon ended with door prizes and lots of smiles. It was truly an elegant and classy event.

ZDZ Goes Back to School! What do over 500 middle school students and Zeta Delta Zeta have in common?

Memorial Middle Schools College Fair! On Monday, April 13th, Soror Lynette Harris encouraged students to be excited about the benefits of a college education. She show-cased The College of New Jersey to over five hundred (500) 6th, 7th and 8th graders that were in attendance. Soror Harris serves as as-sistant director of The Career Center at TCNJ. Soror Janet Ad-ams, a 4th grade teacher at Memorial, as well as Principle Eugene Brown, and follow teachers Krystn Mills and Roxanne Jackson host-ed Soror Harris and a Burlington County College recruiter for the days event.

Zeta Delta Zeta received special invitation from the American Cancer Society inviting us to their Celebration of Grati-tude honoring 2014 Top performers and supporters for commitment to Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of South Jersey. Soror Pauline E. Gibson, the 11th New Jersey State Director and the coordinator of Making Strides Walk for the chapter was presented the Pacesetter Recognition Award and Zeta Delta Zeta Chapter received the Top Team Award raising $10,249.00. We are proud to do this in the name of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. State of New Jersey. The South Jersey Zeta Chapters collectively raised $18,435.00. Way to go South Jersey Chapters. Looking forward to next year.

w/Epsilon Xi Zeta Chapter The Mercer County Pan Hellenic Council host-ed a Career Day on Friday, February 27th, 2015 at the Trenton Central High, West Campus in Trenton, NJ. The event allowed various profes-sional men and women of the Mercer County Pan Hellenic Counsel, to addresses students on careers which the students elected to hear about. The pre-senters were paired according to their careers and addressed the students in their class rooms on ca-reers such as Accounting, Employment and Inter-viewing, Military Service, Police Officers, HR Correction Officers, Teachers, and other career opportunities. The interactive format allowed stu-

dents to ask questions and to discuss career opportunities. The students seemed to really have enjoyed the speaker presentations. It was a wonderful event and both speakers and students are looking forward to the next Career Day!! Nearly 200 supporters gathered to celebrate Rho Tau Zeta Chapters 15th year of service to Passaic,

Bergen and Morris counties at its Lauren Francies Nance Scholarship Dinner Dance on Saturday, Feb. 28. Hosted at

The Bethwood in Totowa, N.J., the aptly themed A Royal Affair was chaired by 2nd Vice-President, Soror Stacey Law-

son. This annual event raised thousands of dollars to benefit college seniors in the chapters service area. This year, five

ladies from Teaneck High School and Dwight Morrow Academies received each received a 2015 Five Pearls Book

Scholarship in the amount of $500.

During the event, the chapter honored two of their six charter members with accolades and gifts to mark the chapter

milestone. Soror Lauren Francies Nance, chapter organizer, and Soror Marcia Smith, charter member, were on-hand to

receive these acknowledgements.

New Jersey State Director, Soror Gina Merritt Epps, and numerous chapter presidents and members from across the

state joined Rho Tau Zeta for this night of elegance, reflection and great music. Representatives from The Divine Nine,

Paterson City Council and other dignitaries were also in attendance.

Chartered on April 14, 2000, the Renowned Rho Tau Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. is at the forefront of

service and scholarship activities in Passaic, Bergen and Morris counties while exemplifying finer womanhood and sister-
