Zen is silence, contemplation, steady non- thought, movement, energy, concentration, calm dynamism, quick re-solution, neutral stance, round connection, central

perspective, plain chessboard with no game on it.

Some days ago, at a social meeting, some guy asked me ironically why do I pretendto be a Zen Master when my specialty is Tai Chi. I intended to answer him that Tai Chi isnothing else than Zen, a contemplation of the natural energy intermingled as Yin & Yang.

But the ironical glance was still there, as a grin without a cat on his lips. When irony fills

us as a wine cup, nothing could be done. His wife accompanied him and I did not want tolower his image in front of his woman. I always wonder how the ignorant dare to contest

something about they have no idea, and how they intend to mock sincere practitioners ofan art, science or technique.

I have many stories with that cut!The world is full of idiots. It is possible that myself, I might look like an idiot in the eyes

of such people. Nice resonance!

I take them as they are; they take me, as I might appear to be!Today I had a Tai Chi class at Burggarten in Wien. An unknown lady was looking

for afar and when the class was over I came near and asked her if she liked. “Very much!”- she said, “What is it?” “It is Tai Chi” - said I. I invited her to share with me a glass of

wine and she accepted. She was a musician from Paris, by a happy chance, from the samecountry where I was born. She was carrying her box with the violin and I intended to help

her but she said: “It is my cross, please . . .”

We went to NashMarkt at Karl Plaz in Wien, and shared a cup ofwine. “Would you please explain to me the “Minor of Bach” - said I.

She was so clear, elegant, precise, detailed. I understood all. Her name wasAlexandra. She was a professional. Thirty minutes later she had to leave, a friend was

waiting for her at the Secession Building. The only student who came at my class was a Venezuelan young guy and his friend,

a Philippine lady. She said hello and immediately retrocede saying:

“What! Such a kind of an energy!”. Suddenly, she moved back and seated on a bench. Iwas a little bit in discomfort with this reaction, but I understood it immediately. In the end

she was kind and said she was sorry about her attitude, and I dismissed it, as nothing. Some times we do not allow strong energy to visit us, we are afraid, we become savage!

But it is still the wonderful energy!I do not care about how and what others think about me. This is the first point of the

behavior of a mature person. I look for nothing, I have no projects, I take everything as itis coming.

! I told to Alexandra a story of my childhood. Ramnicul Valcea was a summer city of

the King of Romania. Between two mountains, the valley was visited in winter by wolves.

My father, a painter, was doing the work of a “zougrafon” as they call in Greek the person who used to paint houses walls. I helped him with carrying the tools and we were

walking at night through the lateral ways of the boulevard, returning at home. Suddenly Isaw passing a group of “dogs” by the main middle of the road and my father told me in

low voice that there, in fact, were wolves, not dogs.

At the corner, a beggar with a violin was playing at night. Was a very cold weather. “Thisis because the wolves. Take in account that they like the violin sound”- said my father.

I remember that the melody was Pachebell’s “Cannon in Fa”. The neighbors paidthe beggar in the morning for his wonderful nocturnal job. He was always

there . . .Alexandra, the violin player, enjoyed my story . . .

I like the “Minor of Bach” !
