The Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) is an international movement motivated by its concern for women all over the world. It is deeply committed to the

development and empowerment of women.

It is a movement with a mission to educate, train, to create awareness and counsel women to enable them contribute effectively to the socio-economic development of our nation.

The YWCA of Delhi was established in 1912 and affiliated to the World YWCA through the National Body, YWCA of India.

The YWCA of Delhi over the years has emerged as a platform for the present generation of women to assume new responsibilities in contributing towards the growth of the nation and the society at large.

It is focused in its vision to empower women in all works of life. The job oriented vocational education imparted at YWCA has gone a long way to improve the financial and economical status of women.

The YWCA of Delhi through its multifarious activities in education, training, counseling and employment has been rendering acumen service to women and children.

The YWCA aims at empowering women in their struggle for justice, attaining higher social status and legitimate rights. The mission encourages equal participation of women at all levels and foresees a change in their role in Indian society.

THE INSTITUTE

The Women’s Training Institute (WTI) was established by the YWCA of Delhi in 1973. The YWCA is governed by the Board of Management and all matters related to the institute come under the preview of the Education Committee constituted every year. For the past 43 years the WTI has worked as a beacon of light imparting high quality vocational education. It has been constantly aiming at the empowering of women by providing them with the necessary skills and motivation to become self-reliant.

The WTI has risen through academic standards and excelled in leadership to produce an array of creative genius and technically competent professionals. It provides a platform for vocational education and training through various job-oriented courses.

STUDENTS’ SERVICES (ALUMNI)

The WTI of YWCA has to its credit of prestigious chain of more than 30,000 alumni since its inception in the year 1973. They are working with industry, corporate and public sector at key positions in diverse fields. They are instrumental in shaping future of India, besides creating a niche for themselves in the society. The Alumni are working at various levels as Entrepreneurs, Office Executives, Designers, Production Managers, Assistants and Lab Technicians to even holding Managerial posts in both private and public sector. They are also active in the media and the corporate world. The strong network of the Alumni with

WTI and among themselves is facilitated through the website and emails. The Placement Cell at WTI plays a crucial role in this.

TRAINING METHODOLOGY

Teaching at the institute involves a comprehensive contextual and practical learning environment for the students. The students undertake classroom and workshop assignments, conduct field studies, make presentations and participate in group discussions and seminars. They take up on the job training for practical experience and develop industry linkages.

The interactive mode of teaching and learning is supplemented by latest audio visual aids and IT tools.

FACULTY

The WTI faculty brings to the classroom professional skills, wide exposure and hands-on-experience of industry, through regular on the job training, seminars and workshops. They constantly upgrade their skills and knowledge through interface with industry and interactive sessions with experts. Students receive quality training and exposure by working on projects, practical assignments and participating in activities and programmes in their related fields. Regular training programmes are conducted by various Institutions/professionals in the concerned fields to ensure that the staff are familiar with latest technologies and the requirement of the industry.

CLASSROOMClassrooms have an interactive environment and are equipped with the infrastructural facilities. They are spacious and well furnished including special rooms for Fashion Technology and Beauty Culture courses. The rooms are provided with over head projector. They are well lit with a maximum seating capacity of 50 students each.

COMPUTER LABTo keep pace with technological advance-ments, the computer packages are regularly upgraded. In its endeavor to provide qual-ity computer training, the Institute has a well equipped computer lab. The students are en-couraged to use the Lab whenever it is free with the prior permission of the Deputy Director.

MEDICAL LABORATORYWTI has a separate Medical Lab Technology (MLT) lab for Medical Lab Technology students consisting of latest equipments and machinery for diagnostic tests and enable the students to learn the technologies in medical field.

AUDITORIUMThe campus houses a large multipurpose fully A/C auditorium with a seating capacity of approx. 250 people. It has a permanent infrastructure in terms of cushioned chairs, stage with a full-length screen and LCD projector system. The auditorium serves as the perfect venue for staging curricular and co-curricular programmes organized throughout the year.

CANTEENThe canteen is located in the Institute’s premises and provides hygiene and quality food. It serves a wide variety of snacks at subsidized rates.

PLACEMENT CELLWe have a Placement Cell which has a num-ber of companies registered as clients for hir-ing WTI students for various positions and va-cancies.

Every year we conduct campus interviews in order to place our passing out students at the end of academic year.

REGISTRATION AND ADMISSION PROCEDURE

All applicants for admission to various courses are requested to register their name with Rs. 500/-(ProspectusCostRs.250/-&RegistrationfeeRs.250/-).

Registration will be made on submission of the following:

The provisional admission of the candidates will stand cancelled if she fails to produce the qualifying examination’s mark sheet / certificate as mentioned above.

TRANSFER FROM ONE COURSE TO ANOTHERStudents are discouraged from seeking transfer from one course to another. The transfer shall be made only if it is feasible and at the discretion of the authorities. In no case will such transfer be considered after 15 days of the commencement of any course.

2. Fees are payable in four installments, unless otherwise specified for the course. The first installment for the months of July to September should be paid at the time of admission. The second installment (for October, November & December) payable by 8th October, third installment (for January, February & March) payable by 8th January, the fourth installment for (April, May & June) payable by 8th March. If 8th of the month happens to be a holiday then the installment is to be paid by the next working day.

Late fee & fine: If fee is not paid by3. theduedate,afineofRs.100/-willbecharged up to last working day of the respectivemonth, followedbyRs.500/-every month on cumulative basis.

Parent / Guardian is to check with the 4. office for any information related to payment of fees.

REFUNDFEES

If a student decides not to join the course 1. after taking admission and informs the office in writing 7 days prior to the

commencement of the course, TUITION FEE, SECURITY DEPOSIT and EXAM FEE shall be refunded.

If a student does not attend classes within 2. 15 days of the commencement of the course without informing in writing, the admission will be cancelled, however only EXAMINATION FEE & SECURITY DEPOSIT will be refunded.

If a student joins the course and 3. discontinues any time after the commencement of the course, no refund of any amount paid as tuition fee or any other charges will be made. Only SECURITY DEPOSIT will be refunded.

If due to unavoidable circumstances 4. any course is not started by the institute then FULL FEES will be refunded to the student.

The timing for fee deposit / refund etc. is 5. strictly between 10.00 am to 4.00 p.m.

SECURITY DEPOSIT

Security Deposit is refundable on 1. completion of the Course and will be made after obtaining requisite clearance from relevant departments. At the time of admission bank details are being taken. The Security Deposit will be credited directly into the Bank Account of the student. Deductions for damages, if any will be made from the Security Deposit.

In cases when the students leaves Institute 2. before completion of the session, security deposit shall be refunded by account payee cheque in the Student’s name only on surrender of Identity Card and original Fee Receipt. No claim for refund of security deposit will be entertained after the lapse of one year of completion of the course.

In case of loss of the original receipt, a 3. duplicate fee receipt can be issued on

payment of Rs. 100/- in order to release the security deposit.

ATTENDANCE

Students should be regular and punctual 1. from the first day of the session.

The minimum attendance should be 2. 70%.

Students who are short of attendance will not be permitted to appear for the final examination. They will be eligible to appear in the supplementary exam after payment of examination fee.

LEAVE OF ABSENCE

Prior permission from the Deputy Director must be obtained, in writing for leave of absence from the Institute. All such leave will be treated as absence only. Continuous absence for more than 10 days without any intimation will make the student’s name liable to be struck off the rolls. Re- admission in exceptional cases can be sought on payment of re-admission fee and arrears, if any, provided she will be able to make upto 70% attendance.

MEDICAL LEAVE

In case of illness, the student must submit leave application signed by Parents/ Guardian along with Medical Certificate from the Doctor to the Class Teacher / Course Co-ordinator as soon as possible or immediately after the student re-joins the institute. No medical certificate will be accepted after a gap of one week from the date of her / his joining the classes. Attendance on medical grounds will be granted up to maximum of 10% in an academic year. All medical leave must be supported with proof of medications like Doctor’s prescription, hospitalization, test reports etc.

EXAMINATION RULES EVALUATION & EXAMINATION

To be eligible for the final examination, I. students have to fulfill the following eligibility criteria :

70% attendance in all subjects 1. including Communication & Soft skills & Computers.

Students not securing minimum 70% 2. attendance in all subjects will be barred fromgivingfinalexamination.

Payment of fee in full without any 3. arrears.

Absence of any disciplinary action4.

Completion of all submissions and 5. assignments.

If a student is found indulging in any II. unfair means during any examination, the answer sheet will be confiscated. A new answer sheet will be provided to complete the examination in the remaining time. If a student repeats the unfair means, student will be debarred from appearing in all other examinations.

Final examination results will be displayed III. on the Notice Board of the Institute.

The Women’s Training Institute conducts IV. its Final Examination in the month of April – May at the end of every academic session. This is the time when the Delhi University also conducts its various examinations. In case there is a clash in examinations such students can re-appear as Supplementary candidates provided they fulfill the rest of the Eligibility Criteria regarding the same.

COMPONENTS OF EXAMINATION

UNDER GRADUATE COURSES & POST GRADUATE COURSES

Internal Assessments are essential and inseparable components of examination scheme of the Institute. There will be 2 internal assessments in all Diploma courses, each carries 20 marks weightage of each subject. First Internal Exam will be conducted in November 2017 and the second will be in January / February – 2018. Final Exams carry 60 marks weightage in all undergraduate & Post graduate diploma courses.

RE-EVALUATION

Application for re-evaluation in the prescribed form will be accepted within 48 hours after publication of the final result on a payment of Rs. 100/- per subject.

DIPLOMA/CERTIFICATE

The YWCA of Delhi shall issue its own I. Diploma after assessment of student’s performance in the examination.

The Diploma / Certificate must be II. collected within 1 year of the completion of the course failing which the student will have to pay Rs. 100/- & collect the same within 2 years.

No Diploma / Marksheet or Bonafide III. certificate will be issued in case of FT (2 year course) after the completion of one year. Diploma / Marksheet / Bonafide Certificate will only be awarded after successful completion of the two year course.

Successful candidates will be awarded IV. the Diploma at the Annual Convocation day. The date and time of which will be communicated to the students by post. Those who fail to collect the Diploma on Annual Convocation Day, can collect on any working Fridays between 2-4 p.m. The

Diploma will be handed over only to the student and not to any representative.

The processing fee of Rs. 250/- and Rs.V. 500/- will be charged for DuPLICATEMARKSHEET and DIPLOMA respectively.

SUPPLEMENTARY EXAMINATION

Only 2 (Two) chances will be given to an unsuccessful candidate for appearing in the supplementary examination within two years (held in September / May) from the date of completion of the course. They will be eligible to appear in the supplementary examination after payment of examination fee. It is the responsibility of the student to contact the office for further information.

ANNUAL DAY CELEBRATION (FASHION SHOW/EXHIBITION)AND‘Y’COMMuNITYSERVICE AND SOCIAL AWARENESS PROGRAMME :

All Women’s Training Institute students would be required to participate in Annual Day Celebration held at the end of Academic Session in the form of Exhibition / Fashion Show. Since YWCA is an NGO, students would also be required to participate in Awareness programme related to social cause, uplifting & empowerment of women.

INTERNSHIP

Internship is a compulsory part of the training which acts as a stepping stone into the corporate world for students. It will be valid only when

– the authorization letter from the Institute is issued.

– is undertaken within the time specified in the year plan. The students are expected to interact with various organizations for their project work and their Internship.

All students must undergo for an Internship in any organization of their choice (ie. They

have to find out the organization on their own) as per requirement of the course. A certificate from the concerned organization, where one undergoes training is to be submitted to the office for records. Diploma will be awarded only to those students who undergo internship / on the job training and produce the proof of the same.

STUDENT SERVICES

COUNSELLINGI.

Counselling facilities are available for students and parents. Counselling sessions are held from time to time and whenever required.

PLACEMENT SERVICEII.

On completion of their respective courses, students, may seek the help of placement services available at the YWCA of Delhi.

All students will ensure that they are registered with the Placement Cell once they are admitted.

NOTICE BOARD

The students in their own interest, should read the notice board everyday for any new developments & other important announcements.

DISCIPLINE IN THE CAMPUS

All students are subject to the discipline 1. of the WTI of the YWCA of Delhi and are expected to observe the rules and regulations.

Irregular attendance or misconduct will 2. render a student liable for suspension/ dismissal at any time. The Deputy Director’s/ Education Committee’s decision is final in this regard. In case of any damage to property, equipment, book etc. the student concerned shall be liable to replace the damaged property

or make good the cost of the items.

Visitors are not permitted to meet the 3. students during class hours except with the prior permission of the Deputy Director.

Students are not allowed to use mobile 4. phones in the classrooms.

Students shall not leave the Institute 5. premises during class hours without prior permission from the respective class teacher / course co-ordinator and the Deputy Director of WTI.

The Institute holds responsibility only for 6. students present in our class attendance records during class hours and is not responsible for them before or after course hours.

Students are expected to dress neatly 7. and modestly.

Office telephone may be used only in 8. case of emergency on payment of Rs. 5/- per call. The office of WTI shall not entertain telephone calls for any student except in case of an emergency.

No student shall use any personnel of the 9. institute for her personal errands.

Any student found adopting unfair 10. means or acting against the interest of the Institute shall be debarred from completing the course.

The Institute shall not take responsibility 11. for any injury sustained by a student, within the campus though all precautions shall be taken to avoid any unwanted incident.

The YWCA of Delhi will not be responsible 12. for the loss of personal property or any valuables brought by the student, while at the Institute.

The Institute will be responsible only for 13. students who attending classes.

OTHER INFORMATION

IDENTITY CARDI.

Students are expected to carry their Identity Card issued by the Institute at all times. In case of loss of I-Card a duplicate card will be issued on payment of Rs. 100/- along with application duly signed by parents. The Identity Card must be surrendered to the Institute at the time of collecting the security deposit.

VISITORS TO THE INSTITUTE II.

In the interest of the students their safety and security, only parents of students will be entertained at the reception counter of the Institute. On no account, visitors will be permitted to meet the students during class hours.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF PARENT /III. GUARDIAN

The Parent / Guardian shall be responsible for the following :

The parent / guardian can meet the Deputy Director on any working day between 2.30 p.m. and 4.00 p.m. by prior appointment.

TheDiplomaCertificatecoursesconductedby the Institute, YWCA of Delhi are not affiliatedtoorrecognizedbytheDirectorateof Education, Delhi Administration. However, it is observed that students trained at the Institute in various courses are well placed in reputed firms / companies.

RIGHTS RESERVED

The Administration of the YWCA of Delhi, reserves the right to make any changes in the requirements and regulations for admission, for continuing the course, the contents of the course, fee charged, regulations affecting students, or make any other suitable modification in any provision of the Course Syllabus or in any matter incidental or ancillary thereto, should these be deemed necessary in the interest of the students, the Institute, or the profession.
