FACTORS THAT INFLUENCE DESIGNWrite down how the following factors could influence your design.

Factor How this factor can affect my project

Aesthetic design features Creative features are an important part of my project because it determines if the product is attractive to the buyers. If my product has no sense of beauty in the customer’s eye it won't be popular.

Functional design features The product needs to have some aspect of originality and the design has to be useful for some purpose. This factors concludes if the product is flexible or solid and what type of features it has of how it functions.

Cost Deciding a budget is a big issue with practical projects because wasting too much money on any one particular thing can be harmful in the end, if it goes to waste.

Human form The human form aspect of my project is involved with if the key tag design has the human form or if it is a character or another design.

Scale The ‘scale’ is an important factor of my project because it determines length, height and width. It could result in if the product fits inside the 3D printer or if it can fit inside a pocket and be attached to a key ring.

Ergonomics Ergonomics is the planning behind the product and the understanding of interactions among each factor. It applies the theory and method to design in order to maximise human well-being.

Ethical This factor is a major say in if the product is offending a particular religion and belief. If this factor is not clearly understood then it could become difficult to sell.

Environmental This factor relates to if my object is environmentally friendly and if it is made from things that could harm the environment to much that the product becomes declined by the company.

Legislation including OHS When designing my key tag it is

critical to have researched in the utmost detail and make sure I am not plagiarising, because if so there could be severe consequences. If I wanted to use another idea, I would have to ask permission to that person or company to use their logo.

Socio cultural Socio cultural has an effect in my project because it deals with the bond of social and cultural issues combined. Which I believe related to if my key tag is disrespecting anyone’s socio cultural belief.

Resource availability If the resources planned for my project aren't available to me then it can have a huge impact on my project and the prototype if it takes a long time to figure out an alternative.

Physical and material properties The texture of the key tag is also meaningful; because if it ends up to have a rough and sharp surface it would be hazardous if swallowed or used as a weapon.

Safety It is a good idea to be careful when experimenting with objects I don't have experience with because in worst case scenarios there could be injury if objects are not handled properly.

Sometimes web designers are required to travel locally, nationally and internationally to meet clients and other people working on particular projects, such as designers and systems specialists (NA, Web Designers, NA). A web designer is mainly responsible for -

creating the set out of the original website keeping updated with current software producing sample sites developing skills and expertise in technology/

About Dave Shea: Dave Shea, a famous Canadian web designer is renowned for his work web standard development. Dave is primarily a designer; ‘my organizing is in my disorder’, quoted by Dave on his website; mezzoblue. Dave’s features in his web design usually bring a lot of emphasis on texture as well, creating almost a sense of enlightenment. His features would apply to my web design because he adds whatever he feels would fit in and this is a good technique if you’re casual. (Shea, 2001-2015)

KEY TAGSWhat I like about this key tag design is that it is creative because it perfectly blends the two traditional Aussie themes of the kangaroo and the Australian map in a petite key tag form. The hole for the key ring is also positioned well as the eye. The variety of colours is a good idea for those choosy buyers. Although, sometimes the fact that aluminium is a very boring texture concerns me. The key tag isn’t very useful as well, I mean thee key tag is just a plain and somewhat attractive piece, nothing else.

Mickey mouse, what a guess. A Mickey Mouse key tag with an imprinted name on it isn’t really what the professionals do, so this key tag design is obviously not the original and is just a copy of Disney. Apart from this disaster the whole outlook of the design isn’t that bad. The rubber texture fits well in the children’s toy category and the design is rather smooth (no safety issues there). Overall the design is a C from me.
