Dear badminton friends, dear guests, I would like to welcome you to our traditional international youth mixed teams tournament. With its 31st edition the tournament is entering a new era. It has been an honour for us to organize this popular international event for the previous thirty years. This time, with a new sponsor FZ Forza, we are entering a fourth decade of this extraordinary tournament in Český Krumlov. I hope that this and the next editions of our biggest annual event will be as successful as the past ones. I also hope that we will together enjoy the following three days a lot and have fun playing or watching excellent badminton games. I am really glad that besides the brand FZ Forza, which became the new partner and supplier of our club, we are again being helped by our traditional supporters the town of Český Krumlov and the region of South Bohemia. Although the number of participating teams has dropped slightly to 10, it´s great that we again have the pleasure to welcome representatives from 7 different countries. The last few editions of the tournament have seen some beautiful badminton and great matches. I believe that we can look forward to an equally thrilling show also this time. But please remember that there is not only badminton awaiting you in the town. The place is beautiful and has a lot to offer also in its picturesque streets. As always, we have tried to do our best to prepare as good a tournament for you as possible. A number of volunteers have spent countless hours with the preparations. That you will go back home satisfied, that is the only reward we, organisers, are now hoping for. Let me once more thank our tournament and club partners and sponsors for the trust given to us and for their decision to support this amazing event. The tournament has become a symbol of badminton in Český Krumlov and maybe even a symbol of the town itself. I am happy that you all are now becoming a part of this tradition as well. In the town of a rich history, precious architectural monuments, in the town, which is an inspiration for many young artists and last but not least a home to a lot of sporting talents. The town of Český Krumlov has been supporting the activities of various associations, institutions, and individuals in all social spheres, especially in sports. Badminton in Český Krumlov has a long tradition and a high-quality membership. The badminton players from Český Krumlov are very successful not only on local courts, but also in tournaments on national or even international scale. I myself am an active sportsman. When I was young I used to be both a volleyball player and a coach. Thus I am sharing your sports enthusiasm and sincerely wish that you enjoyed fair-play matches and with a true dedication made good use of the countless hours you have been spending under the nets.

TECHNICAL DATA Hello, my name is Jaromír Janáček and I will be the referee of FZ Forza Cup 2016. In order to prevent any misunderstandings we prepared a list of basic information which will help you throughout the tournament. TOURNAMENT STRUCTURE The tables for the draw and the times of particular rounds can be found below. Right now they are empty, but you can fill them in when the draw is made. There will be 2 preliminary groups (A and B). The draw will be conducted just before the beginning of the tournament at the team managers’ briefing (14:00 and 14:30 on Friday 10th June afternoon). The Friday matches will start at 15:00. Seeding: the past year´s results as well as the estimated strength of this year’s participating teams shall be considered (e.g. last year the Dutch team finished runners-up being beaten by the team from India. Due to the fact that the Indian team is not participating this year, the Dutch team will be seeded as number 1). The draw will also have to comply with the condition that two teams from one country should not play in the same preliminary group. The first two rounds of the preliminary groups will be played on Friday, the others on Saturday.

Group A – 5 teams Group B – 5 teams There are TWO OPTIONS how the tournament can be played: Option A: 5 rounds of team matches in preliminary groups (4 team matches per team + 1 free round) and then winners of the groups playing the final, runners-up in the groups playing for the 3rd place, etc. (The last team matches including finals would be played on Sunday morning and such a variant would mean 5 team matches per team).

Possible final stage: Sunday 9:00-12:30

Total number of team matches per team: 5 (4 in preliminary group + 1 in the final stage) Option B: 5 rounds of team matches in preliminary groups (4 team matches per team + 1 free round) and then final stage with1-4 place semifinals, 5-8 place semifinals and 9-10 place team match. After having finished playing in the preliminary groups (Saturday around 15:00) the tournament would continue with the first part of the final stage on Saturday and the other part of the final stage on Sunday.

Possible final stage: Saturday 15:00-17:30

Total number of team matches per team: 6 (4 in preliminary group + 2 in the final stage)

Comments: Which of the options we will follow is to be decided at the Friday´s briefing when the draw is to be commenced after a mutual agreement between the coaches of the participating teams. Although playing 6 team matches in 3 days will be more demanding on the players (some of the teams would have to play 4 team matches on Saturday), we recommend to choose option B. In such case you may not have so much time to explore our beautiful town, however, we believe that the main aim of your

journey to Český Krumlov is badminton. If you decided for option A, it is possible to use the spare time for swimming or sightseeing – whatever you prefer. SOCIAL EVENING – SATURDAY 11TH JUNE: When the play on Saturday is over we ALL will go to www.bowlingck.cz where dinner and a bowling tournament will be prepared for all the participants including players, coaches and organisers. The program at the bowling restaurant will start between 19:00 and 19:30, depending on the end of Saturday matches. We all will walk from the hall together, estimated departure time 18:45. SHUTTLES: Provided by organiser - feather RSL Tourney No. 1. The shuttles will be tested before the start of the event. Any manipulation with the shuttle (tipping in – tipping out) has to be consulted with me first. TEAM-MATCHES: Each team-match (tie) consists of 5 rubbers (BS, GS, BD, GD, XD). Each team-match should also be played out until the end even when the winner is clear in the final stage of the tournament.

Each team match will be played on one court (most of the time there will be 4 team matches played at the same time). The fifth free court will be used for players´ warm-up or to speed up the tournament in case some of the team matches were getting too long.

We will appreciate when the team leaders hand in the team configuration for the next rounds in time and the players go on court as soon as they are called. RANKING IN THE GROUPS will be determined by: 1. points (team-matches won) 2. rubbers score 3. games score 4. points score 5. mutual team-match result SPORTS HALL: • 5 badminton mats • Shuttles touching any part of the ceiling construction are called as a fault, except for the black loudspeakers on court number 1. OTHERS: • Rally-point scoring system 3x21, • A coaching chair will be put behind each court, the coach can only talk to the

player(s) between the rallies, not when the shuttle is in play, • Fair-play spirit, • 2-3 minutes for knock-up after a match has been called, the players have to start

the game immediately when told to do so by the match-control. UMPIRING: • The teams alternate in “counting” the matches. The players sitting on the umpire

chairs will not be calling the lines, only putting the scores on the light boards behind the courts. Calling the lines is a matter of fair-play and mutual agreement between the players currently on court.

FOOD:

• The entry-fee package includes dinner on Friday, breakfast, lunch buffet and dinner at the bowling restaurant on Saturday, breakfast and lunch on Sunday and some water with syrup available in the cafeteria during the whole tournament.

• If you feel that this is not enough for your team, there are supermarkets within a 5-minute reach by car where you may want to buy some additional sweets, snacks etc.


SCHEDULE – FZ Forza Cup 2016 THURSDAY 9th JUNE: – arrival of some of the teams FRIDAY 10th JUNE: 9:00-10:00 – breakfast – Sports Hall - (for teams arriving on Thursday) 10:00-14:30 – arrival of all the rest of the teams 9:00-14:00 – practice courts available (try to book after your arrival) Lunch – individual (available in the hall for 6€) 14:15-14:30 – team managers´ briefing and the draw 15:00-21:00 – 1st and 2nd round of the tournament – preliminary groups 20:00-22:00 – dinner – Sports Hall SATURDAY 11th JUNE: 7:15 - 8:15 – breakfast - sports hall (All teams eat in the hall) 7:50 – sports hall opens 8:15 – team configurations for the morning team matches to be handed in 8:45 – opening ceremony 9:00 – start of competition 9:00 - 11:00 – 3rd round - preliminary groups 11:30 – 15:00 - lunch buffet - refreshments (salad, rolls, fruits, etc.) will be available in the cafeteria

during lunch time (between approx. 11:30-15:00), the games will go on continuously - drinks - water (juice) in the cafeteria during the whole tournament

11:00 - 13:00 – 4th round - preliminary groups 13:00 - 15:00 – 5th round - preliminary groups 15:30 – 18:30 - final stage – ??? semifinals ??? Swimming pool available: 13:00 - 21:00 (for teams who wish to go swimming during their break) 18:45 - all teams departing from the hall for the social evening (walk) 19:00 – 22:00 – SOCIAL EVENING with DINNER at the bowling restaurant SUNDAY 12th JUNE: 7:15 - 8:15 – breakfast sports hall (all teams eat in the hall) 7:50 – sports hall opens 9:30 - 12:30 – final round – FINALS and Team-matches for 3rd, 5th, 7th, and 9th 12:30 - 13:00 – prize-giving ceremony (visit of the mayor of the town) 13:00 – 13:30 - lunch After 13:30 – departure Swimming pool available: 13:00 - 21:00 (for teams who wish to go swimming and depart a little bit later) OTHER DETAILS: Meal vouchers - each team will get vouchers for their meals upon their arrival.

Swimming pool - the entry is free of charge, you just need to borrow the entry card from us and return it before your departure.
