Once upon a time, Saskatchewan people banded together believing that a cable company could do more than entertain the community. It could better it.

Over 40 years later, our community-owned co-operative continues to invest every penny we earn right back into this province.

When customers choose Access Communications, they are not just supporting local jobs and businesses — they’re supporting more than 1,600 community organizations we support to make Saskatchewan a healthier, happier place to live. (The awesome TV, Internet, phone service and security monitoring is just a bonus!)

There are so many reasons we love being “Yours. Truly.” — picking just 10 was almost impossible! Each demonstrates our co-operative values — the magic that happens when Saskatchewan people (like our members, customers, employees, volunteers and partners) come together.

“We don’t just ‘change the channel’. We change lives!

Sincerely,

“We don’t just change the channel. We change lives!”

Brenda Watson Chair, Access Communications Co-operative Board of Directors

Reason 2 Sharing Saskatchewan’s stories on our Access7 community channels! Where else can you say “Look, Mom!

I’m on TV!” and Mom is running the camera?

We are so proud to provide almost 100 Access7 community channels all across Saskatchewan — each with its own local shows! More than just TV, Access7 is where friends and neighbours share the cultures, stories and events that make Saskatchewan Saskatchewan!

Best of all, more than 55% of the programming on Access7 is produced by local community individuals and groups. We couldn’t do it without you!

5

Patrick Palmer Access7 Production Assistant

“I have the opportunity to be a part of so many events in our province — and I always feel so much pride in the way our community comes together. I strive to reflect that on our community channel”

Reason 1Every cent customers spend with us goes back into the community. Your community!

What’s the big deal about being a community-owned co-operative? You! As a not-for-profit, we reinvest all of our earnings into the more than 235 communities and 160,000 sq. km. of rural areas we serve: pumping millions into local economies, helping food banks, supporting children at risk or in need; and, with our Access7 community channels, empowering neighbours to share their stories. Your stories!

75 additional local contractors & freelancers we hired

1,682 local charities & non-profits we supported this year

300 Access employees across Saskatchewan

Reason 3 Our volunteers! It takes a village — make that a province!

Every year, over 1,500 incredible volunteers donate a whopping 6,000 hours to create a fascinating 3,500 hours of made-in-Saskatchewan TV! Many of them are behind the scenes, but they’re all stars in our eyes!

Want to make new friends, memories and a difference, too? Join the fun at Access7! No experience necessary. We’ll train you!

Just don’t be surprised if you’re like Andee and want to work here! ;)

Reason 4 Raising funds to lend Saskatchewan people (& animals) a helping hand.

All year long, Access staff and volunteers team up to brighten the lives of those less fortunate — and we have a lot of fun, too! This year, with help from our generous viewers and friends across Saskatchewan, community groups raised more than half a million dollars for causes close to our hearts.

10

Reason 5 Supporting 1,682 community groups doing amazing work across Saskatchewan! (But who’s counting?)

Whether it’s with fundraising, in-kind sponsorships or promotion on our Access7 community channels, we support these neighbours because that’s why we’re here. For us, it’s not enough to be in a community. We’re here to better it.

Together!

Reason 6 Building places for kids of all ages to play!

Jenny Deane Proud Access Volunteer

“It’s a really unique and special opportunity that Access has

provided the community and I’m really happy to be part of it.”

12

People have been having a ball at our Access Communications Community Park in Regina since 1989 — soccer, softball and baseball to be exact! To do our part to shorten winter, we opened the Access Communications Community Rink there this year, providing skates and helmets so every child gets the chance to find their inner Gretzky. And when we put the call out to the community to donate more equipment, hundreds of people came through.

You never fail to warm our hearts, Saskatchewan!

Pathways Out of Poverty

$1.9 million donated to help kids

since 1992.

Together we’re making a difference!

Crime Prevention

14

Reason 7 Helping kids discover their greatness with our Children’s Fund charity.

Every child deserves a chance.

That was the dream when we launched our registered charity, the Access Communications Children’s Fund, back in 1992. And thanks to proceeds from our popular TV Bingo show, Access staff fundraisers and generous donations from the public, over the years we’ve raised $1.9 million to help make that dream come true!

Our Children’s Fund supports non-profits and charities throughout Saskatchewan who focus on education & literacy, health & wellness, pathways out of poverty and crime prevention for young people at risk or in need.

Who better to invest in than our future? The only thing better than seeing the greatness in every child is helping them see it, too.

Take a moment to review our 2018 summary financial statements starting on page 19.

Sincerely

Doug Alexander Chair, Access Communications Children’s Fund Board of Directors

Reason 10 You. Our members and customers! We’ve saved the best for last!

When you choose Access Communications, you’re not growing some distant corporation who can’t even pronounce “Saskatchewan”. You’re growing the quality of life right here where you live, work and play! As a community-owned co-operative, we return 100% of our earnings back into the more than 235 communities and rural areas we serve — not just in the form of hyper-fast internet or your favourite TV shows or phone service or home security.

You’re giving neighbours a place to share their stories, helping food banks nourish those in need and putting kids at risk on a positive path. None of this would be possible without YOU!

So, thank you, Saskatchewan! For more than 40 years you’ve shown that when good people come together, there’s really nothing we can’t do!

Reason 9 Our Access family!Access Communications is so much more than a place to work. It’s a place to belong and make a difference with friends who are more like family. We don’t mean to sound braggy, but there’s a reason we’ve been recognized as a Saskatchewan Top Employer over and over again — make that 303 reasons. Our employees!

They put our co-operative values into action every day. So much so that Access Communications is also recognized nationally as one of Canada’s Best Diversity Employers and an Imagine Canada Caring Company. (If it sounds like we’re trying to recruit you, we can’t help it!)
