Regina Symphony Orchestra will be in Shaunavon next month for a special concert performance as part of the 40th Anniversary celebrations for Shaunavon Arts Council.
“It’s serendipitous that this opportunity should present itself during our 40th anniversary,” said Wendy Thienes of the Shaunavon Arts Council. “This will be a treat that our patrons have not experienced in our history, so what a unique way to celebrate.”
The concert will take place Sunday, March 5 at 3 pm at Centre Street United Church. Only 150 tickets will be sold for the concert.
Tickets can be purchased for $40 at the Museum.
The RSO’s performance in Shaunavon is being presented by t h e l o c a l A r t s Co u n c i l i n p a r t n e r s h i p w i t h t h e Organization of Saskatchewan Arts Councils (OSAC).

OSAC is also partnering with other local arts councils to present Regina Symphony shows in Weyburn, Yorkton and Estevan as part of the 2016/2017 Stars for Saskatchewan Concert series.
For the first time ever, Music Director Gordon Gerrard along w i t h a 2 4 - m e m b e r R S O chamber orchestra will tour and perform for the southern Saskatchewan audiences.
The show will be a unique experience for both local audiences and the RSO.
While the RSO regularly tours the province, it is usually with much smaller ensembles.
In fact this group, featuring 24 musicians, is so big that local organizers are going to have to m a k e s p e c i a l s t a g i n g arrangements to accommodate all the musicians.
The concert wil l feature powerful classics and popular music with Maestro Gordon on piano and conducting.
The concert is being billed as the “Rediscover, Reimagine” RSO tour.
The Shaunavon Arts council is encouraging area residents to “come and experience the beginning of a new era with the RSO and explore chamber music like never before.
OSAC presents over 300 live c o m m u n i t y a n d s c h o o l p e r f o r m a n c e s a n n u a l l y, attended by a total audience of approximately 75,000. This is
possible thanks to a dedicated n e t w o r k o f v o l u n t e e r s committed to making culture an integral part of Saskatchewan community l i fe, and vital funding from Saskatchewan Lotter ies administered by SaskCulture, Canadian Heritage and the Saskatchewan Arts B o a r d . P r o c e e d s f r o m Saskatchewan Lotteries benefit more than 12,000 non-profit sport, culture and recreation groups around the province.
Please refer to the attached tour schedule for times, dates and locations. For further information, please contact the local Arts Council or OSAC. Please visit www.osac.ca for more information.
