Product Waste Stewardship Regulations, which came into effect in July 2016.

“ T h i s m a k e s Saskatchewan the first province in Canada with a regulated agricultural plas-tics recycling program,” Environment Minister Dustin Duncan said. “I’m pleased that our province is a leader in agricultural plastics recycling, and that our producers and sellers will have a program for grain bags to be responsi-bly recycled to protect our environment.”

With the assistance of funding from the Ministry of Agriculture, Cleanfarms will establish 20 grain bag collection sites in 2018, with more sites planned for 2019.

“We know that Saskatchewan farmers want to do the right thing for their land and commu-nities,” Cleanfarms General Manager Barry Friesen said. “Our team is looking forward to being part of this new work and to help farmers be even more sus-

tainable.”“Saskatchewan producers

are responsible stewards of their land,” Agricultural Producers Association of Saskatchewan President Todd Lewis said. “They care deeply about sustain-ability, and are aware of how their actions today could affect future genera-tions. Our members will be pleased to see the launch of this program.”

The Ministry of Agriculture funded a grain bag recy-cling pilot program from 2011 to 2017, operated by Simply Agriculture Solutions. Through the program, 4,209 metric tonnes of material was shipped to recyclers – equivalent to approximate-ly 28,000 grain bags.

The new program will include an environmental handling fee of $0.25 per kilogram, which will be paid at the point of pur-chase effective November 1, 2018.

www.yourdailyfix.meNOTICE TO RESIDENTS - TOWN OF SHAUNAVON

SNOW REMOVAL When snow removal is planned the ‘tow vehicle’ signs will be placed on the streets and avenues to be cleaned that night. Vehicle owners are reminded that their vehicles will be towed if not removed and they will be responsible for the towing and any other fees. Motorists are reminded to pay careful attention when snow removal equipment is operating. Vehicles entering into the work area are doing so at their own risk Property owners/occupants are reminded that you are responsible for keeping the sidewalks adjacent to your property free and clear of ice and snow. Snow from any driveways, parking lots and residential sidewalks should not be placed out onto the street or into the lane. Town Bylaw requires that sidewalks be cleared within 24 hours from receiving a snow fall. Vehicles (including trailers) not being moved on a regular basis should not be left parked on the street. Owners can be fined and vehicles impounded. Unregistered vehicles are not to be parked on any street. Vehicles greater than 25’ in length or with a manufacturer’s rated capacity in excess of 5,500 kg shall not be parked on any residential street. A policeman had a perfect spot to watch for speeders, but was not getting many. Then, he discovered the problem; a 10 year old boy was standing up the road with a hand painted sign which read, "SPEED TRAP AHEAD". The officer then found a young accomplice down the road with a sign painted "TIPS" and a bucket of change.

On elec-tric toast-ers, why do they engrave the mes-sage “one

slice?” How

many pieces

of bread do they think

people are really gonna try to stuff in that slot?
