Congratulations On your engagement and thank you for considering the Guildhall for your wedding
celebrations.
We recognise that your wedding day is one of the most important days of your lives, and
with our dedicated and experienced team we will ensure that your dreams come true at our
perfect venue.
The Guildhall is the perfect location to hold your wedding ceremony, celebrations and
parties creating the ideal ambience for your special day. The historic setting of the Great
Hall provides an ideal backdrop for your ceremony, seating up to 120 guests and/or your
reception.
The wood panelled Chamber and our Radley Room can also be used for smaller ceremonies
or for evening use as a bar or buffet area. We pride ourselves on our attention to detail
ensuring you and your guests are left with lasting memories of a perfect day.

History of the Building The Guildhall has a fascinating history, both on the architectural and social history fronts. The
building, commissioned in 1856, would have been regarded as ultra modern and quite daring at the
time. This was the first civic building in Britain in the ‘modern Gothic’ style advocated by John Ruskin
in his ‘The Stones of Venice‘ 1851-3 and included an Arabic influence, clearly seen in the arch
decoration. The national interest in the design was reflected at the time by the illustration in The
Building News of 1859 and is still noted as an exceptional rarity in the context of Gothic public
buildings by experts in Victorian architecture.

Your Wedding Ceremony
The magnificent Great Hall with its vaulted ceiling, the Radley room and the wood panelled
Chamber room are all available for hire. The Guildhall is fully licensed for civil marriages and
partnerships and for ceremonies for the renewal of vows.
Great Hall
The Great Hall can accommodate up to 120 guests and the fees are as follows
Monday-Friday: £120
Saturday-Sunday: £150
Radley Room
Seats up to 50 guests
Monday-Friday: £100
Saturday (Ceremonies after 1pm): £120
Chamber Room
Seats up to 30 guests
Monday-Friday: £70
Saturday: £90

Your Wedding Reception We pride ourselves on our expert, flexible and personal approach to Wedding Planning. Our
dedicated wedding coordinator will be on hand to ensure all your special and unique
requirements are fulfilled. We are fully aware that you have your own individual needs and
this is why we are able to offer you the following package.
Detailed advice from the wedding coordinator on how to organise your reception at
the Guildhall
Full use of our kitchen for yourself and your chosen caterers (for our preferred
suppliers list, please contact the office for their details)
Use of the heritage building for all your photographs
Use of the tables and chairs for all your guests
We are able to provide full bar services and we will tailor this to your own needs
(own drinks are permitted however a corkage charge applies to all bottles, please
see overleaf for prices)

Great Hall & Chamber room - £75 per hour
We can also offer an all day fee for all rooms (please contact the office for more
information)
We can also provide an in-house DJ at an additional cost of £100 and order the table linen,
glassware and crockery on your behalf – Price on Application.

Celebratory and Reception Drinks After your ceremony, why not invite your guests to a champagne reception in the
downstairs Radley room and/or our wonderful courtyard.
We are happy to alter the content of our drinks packages and quote accordingly.

Wedding Ceremony Terms and Conditions
Confirmation A provisional booking will hold your date for a period of 14 days. In order to confirm your Wedding Ceremony booking we will require confirmation in writing via email or post and a non-refundale deposit of 30%.
Please ensure that you have confirmed the date with the registrar prior to confirming your date with us.
Please be aware that dates provisionally booked but not confirmed within 14 days will be released.
The final set-up required for your ceremony, guest numbers and any music you wish to use must be provided 1 week before the date of your wedding.
The outstanding balance for your ceremony is payable 1 week prior to the date
Should you have any special requirements please notify the Guildhall team as soon as possible. They are not guaranteed unless confirmed in writing by both the client and Guildhall.
Cancellations
In the unfortunate event of you cancelling your booking the following charges will apply: Less than 1 week prior to the date: Full payment will be required More than 1 week prior to the date: Deposit lost

Wedding Reception Terms & Conditions
Confirmation A provisional booking will secure the venue for a period of 14 days, if no confirmation is
received from you within 14 days then the date will automatically be released. You may only
hold one provisional date per booking. Bookings will be treated as provisional until the
contract (the confirmation) is signed and returned to us, along with the relevant deposit by
the client. If the confirmation is not received The Guildhall reserves the right to cancel the
function.
Please ensure that you have confirmed the date with the registrar/church prior to
confirming your date with us.
A non-refundable deposit of 30% of the hire fee is required upon confirmation of the
booking along with a signed copy of the terms and conditions. Non payment of this deposit
will result in cancellation of the function. Payment can be taken via cash, BACS or cheque.
The Guildhall reserves the right to charge interest at the rate of 5% for each 28-day period,
or part thereof, on any outstanding balance. Further Payment Two weeks before the function a pro-forma invoice will be issued based on the
requirements discussed at the previous meeting. This invoice must be paid 7 days prior to
the function.
Final Numbers and arrangements We will require an estimate of the numbers attending and approximate timings of your
booking one month prior to the function. This is also an ideal time to arrange an
appointment to discuss in detail any further requirements you may have.
Cancellations In the unfortunate event of you cancelling your booking the following charges will apply: More than 1 month prior to the event – deposit lost (also the cost of any
equipment/services hired in by the Guildhall must be covered by the client. Hiring in of
services must be agreed by both parties.
Within a month of your event – 50% of your invoice is payable
48 hours prior to event – Full payment due The client must confirm all cancellations in writing.

Corkage No wine or spirits may be brought onto the premises by clients or guests without prior
consent of the Guildhall.
Licensing Hours All functions are licensed until 1:00am with the bar closing at 12:30hrs.
The Guildhall’s Liability The Guildhall does not accept responsibility for loss of or damage to any items of value
(including but not limited to cash, jewellery and electronic items such as laptops, cameras
and phones) unless deposited with the office for safekeeping.
Clients Responsibility
Any special requirements must be notified as soon as possible. They are not
guaranteed unless specifically confirmed by the Guildhall in writing. Failure to do so,
which impacts on the service and expectations on the wedding day will not be the
responsibility of the Guildhall.
Unless otherwise advised, the Guildhall has no plans for refurbishment but this
situation may change.
If you have any disability related requirements, please advise the Guildhall directly as
soon as possible.
All outside catering suppliers must contact the Guildhall at least 2 weeks before the
event to arrange delivery, requirements and time scales.
If a caterer is to be used, the Guildhall must see a current Food & Hygiene Certificate
and Public Liability Certificate.
Equipment and storage
The Guildhall will assist Clients, where reasonably possible with storage of equipment etc.
The Guildhall does not accept any liability for loss or damage to any item of equipment,
furniture stock or the like. Clients are requested to confirm arrangements with the
management at least 28 days prior to the event.
Behaviour You accept responsibility for any damage or loss caused by any of your
guests. Full payment for any such damage or loss must be paid direct to
the Guildhall. The Guildhall is entitled to exclude or remove any guest
who causes damage, danger or distress or otherwise behaves in an
inappropriate manner. Any children attending the function are the

responsibility of the accompanying adult and for their safety and that of the staff and guests
they should be under supervision at all times.
