SOURCES OF INFORMATION

The geological information on this map has been compiled by C. C. Storey from published and unpublished maps of the Ontario Geological Survey. It is of a provisional nature as the geology is currently under review. Marble belts are shown in general outline only; they may contain intercalated clastic meta-sedimentary rocks. Some small marble units outside the major belts are not shown due to the scale of the map.

A 'deposit' is defined as any natural concentration of metallic minerals, how-aver small. The locations of most of the mineral deposits are based on field work conducted by T. R. Carter and assistants in 1977 and 1978. Some de­posits were not visited and locations are based on published maps and reports of the Ontario Geological Survey, and the Geological Survey of Canada, or on information obtained from the Assessment Files Research Office of the Ontario Geological Survey.

Financial Support was provided on a shared basis by the Ministry of Treasury, Economics and Intergovernmental Affairs, Ontario and the Department of Regional Economic Expansion, Canada.
