An easy 30 minute ride from your hotel, we do a morning visit to

the historic and exceptionally interesting town of Kamakura, a

former capital of Japan. Kamakura was not bombed during world

wars and is dotted with over 40 temples and shrines and is arguably

the cultural capital of Japan given its history and its proximity to

Tokyo. It is also a very charming and stylish town reflecting its

artisan heritage, with wonderful small shops, restaurants, and

narrow neighborhood streets oozing character that cry out to be

explored. We’ll traverse temples and paths along with very

interesting shops and charming cafes and eateries along with

atmospheric temples and shrines, giant Buddhas, and small scenic

trains.

Meet your guide and make your way into Tokyo. Enjoy a

fashionable lunch and then stroll the Ginza a bit, with its

luxury stores, iconic brands, small boutiques and exceptional

departments stores and their “depachika” (basements with

wonderful food on display). They are also great places to

keep cool in the summer. From there we’ll head to

Omotesando and its tree-lined boulevards with honeycombed

backstreet boutiques for exploring. Nearby Harajuku where

teen trends are born is next door with its intense alleys of

wares for youth. As a respite, the Meiji Shrine looms right

TOKYO/YOKOHAMAHotel New Grand Yokohama - A truly classic Japanese style hotel with an unparallel history and sense of place. The New

Grand is located in Yokohama, Japan’s second largest city and an easy 30 minutes from central Tokyo, but nestled against the

water and treelined boulevards. The New Hotel Grand was the first truly western style hotel built in Japan, evident in its

unique architecture. Overlooking the historic Yokohama waterfront where Commodore Perry docked his Black ship, the tree-

lined port boulevard the hotel New Grand has accommodated the likes of General MacArthur, Babe Ruth, Charlie Chaplin.

This fully renovated and modern hotel retains the full service and style of Japan. It has everything you'll want. Only 25 minutes

from the Haneda International airport in Tokyo, 30 minutes from downtown Tokyo, 2 minutes from the subway and a 5-minute

walk from the stylish and chic Motomachi area with its quaint shops and eateries, one of the largest and most vibrant

Chinatowns outside of China, the Hotel New Grand makes for a fantastic and historic home base full of Japanese culture and

history. Relax and bask in the history, luxury and style of this grand hotel of true Japanese character.

Royal Park Tokyo Shiodome - This modern hotel is conveniently and centrally located in the heart of Tokyo, just 5 minutes walking

distance to Ginza and 15 minutes to Tsukiji. Located on the 24th floor and above it offers beautiful views of dazzling skyscrapers and

Tokyo Tower as well as the spa Mandara to refresh and rejuvenate. It has 3 different restaurant options and is in the heart of the

vibrant Shiodome-Shimbashi business district.

KYOTO/NARAThe Westin Miyako Kyoto - Overlooking the ancient city of Kyoto, this hotel has a fantastic blend of Japanese cultural charm and

modern convenience. Wonderfully located and appointed, this is one of our favorite bases from which to explore the incredible

cultural riches of Kyoto.

Hyatt Regency Kyoto - Elegant and fabulously located directly across street from the redone national museum, adjacent to two

temples, and nestled in the foothills of the World-Heritage site studded Eastern Mountains, it provides a fantastic blend of tranquility

and modernity with a fantastic sake bar in basement for those so inclined.
