Welcome to the first

of Your Swim Schools Newsletter.

Our aim is to continually improve the services that we now offer across East Kent and keep you up to date with this and other Your Swim School events.

Over the past 12 months we have been reviewing our swim school structure.

Working with the Amateur Swimming Association (ASA) and reviewing assessed how we can improve reporting and re-booking processes of our Swim School programme.

We have introduced this year the use of iPod's for teachers which have replaced the paper registers and link directly to our swim school software allowing the teachers to upload assessment information at the time it happens.

This has two distinct benefits:1. Up to date and accurately recorded

progression of each child.2. The creation of an online home portal available

to all parents.

Introducing Swim School Home Portal

What is Continual Assessment?

Home Portal is a web based programme that will allow you to manage your child's swimming lessons online, in the comfort of your own home via computer, laptop, tablet or on the go through your smart phone.

Benefits include:1. Instantly accessing your child's assessments and

watching their progress.

In order for you to access the benefits of home portal we must have up to date details of your child, including an active email address. Please could I ask that you complete a registration card available from reception as soon as possible.

So don't delay, update your details today!

With the introduction of the online Home Portal comes continual assessment.

Our current programme in Thanet runs over four twelve week courses with assessments coming to conclusion around week 10. In our Dover and Deal Leisure Centres our programmed courses are comparable to the school terms.

2. Receive email alerts when your child is ready to move stages.

3. Move your child via the home portal choosing from any of the available and appropriate classes.

Home portal will be released in phases. Phase 1, November 2014 benefit number 1 above (view only). Phase 2, January 2015, will allow full access and benefits as listed above. Full details will be available shortly.

We understand that children progress at differing rates and with this in mind and the availability of the Home Portal we will be allowing children to progress to the next level at a time that suits them and when they are ready and not fixed against course dictated dates.

This will mean that our accelerated learners will be able to move quicker through the programme and swimmers that need that extra bit of nurturing to advance, will be able to do so without the pressure of a fixed course date.

From January 2015 our current process will be replaced across all Your Swim School classes (Ducklings and above) by continual assessment which will run annually over 48 week’s.

All swimmers will embark on their own learn to swim journey and you will be able to keep track of your child's journey via the Home Portal. This will remove the need for rebooking and to simplify the system we will be introducing the new Swim School Membership allowing you to spread the cost of your child's lessons over the year through our Direct Debit Scheme.

A stress free monthly direct debit membership that will enable you to spread the cost of swimming lessons over the year.

But that's not all, included within the membership are some amazing additional benefits including free swimming and unlimited access to Ollie's Undersea Kingdom (indoor soft play centre) at Hartsdown Leisure Centre plus special introductory offers for parents & guardians.

The scheme will launch from January 1st 2015 but in preparation for this and to ease the pressure of the up and

coming festive season we are asking all parents to sign up between 1st November and the 7th December 2014 and escape the Christmas re-booking rush.

All that will be required will be to complete an application form and Direct Debit mandate at reception together with the first 2 weeks fee's (only £12) upfront for 2015.

Please note there is a minimum contract term associated with this scheme of 3 months. For the full benefits and details of our new Direct Debit Membership please see the reverse of this newsletter.

However, re-booking will still be available as normal between 1st and 7th December, but please note full payment will be required by the 7th December to secure your child’s place.
