Any MomentIs The Time for Change

Healthy Breakfast Recipes

From Your Little Window

Hi Readers,

It’s funny how comfortable people get with the people they

meet in different situations, while they wait for a ride, food

or even a flight. This week, we share a conversation that took

place in an airport, as we talked with a lady who was making

some big changes in her life. Also, see what “Food for the

Soul” with our Columnist, Olivia Rose has in store.

Live.Love.

Laugh a Lot.

Little Window

here are times when we feel like we have the worst share out of life, and if there were ever a line of

doom, dead-end or bad luck we’d start and end those lines. Some of us have been to hell and back and we even have the vouchers to show. Of course, we all have vouchers to show of such expeditions but what use would this journey be if all we did was complain? Instead, we should be fortunate we were privileged to make it through hell. After all, not many persons have the vouchers to even show; some are stuck there and others simply lack the courage, strength and deter-mination to even make it through. Oh yes we all have our fair share of troubles, crosses, and tribulations to bear but as we seek to share our story about hell with others, let us always find something from that ex-perience to be grateful for. Sometimes, that is not initially easy for us to do. We are always encouraged to write things down, and sometimes even finding someone or a particular situation that is worse than the one you are currently expe-riencing, can possibly help you to shift your perspective. Yes, we have been implored by the words in Desiderata never to compare ourselves with others because we will always find persons better off or worse than ourselves. This can only make us vain and bitter, but I would like to illustrate that you can use that same comparison to make you become more appreciative and grateful for every experience. You can do this by simply pausing to think of persons who have life far more difficult than you do. Sometimes we also feel that what we are going through, at the time we are going through what we are going through, is

the most horrific, most terrible and worst experience ever, and that those who are trying to tell us to shift our perspec-tive, really don’t have a clue as to what we are experiencing. Besides, they haven’t even been through anything similar to what we are presently facing. You are possibly correct here, however, what we go through in life is not totally unique to us because several others have gone through a similar situation. What is unique is how we interpret and put meaning to the story of our lives. Breakups are not unique to you, they are like a birthday, you must experience at least once, and we all experience a birth-day once per year. Losing someone isn’t unique to you. Being robbed is not unique to you. Being lied to or lied on isn’t unique to you. Being a victim is not unique to you. Not know-ing which path to take is not unique to you. Being uncertain about the future is not unique to you. What is unique to you is how you deal with these experiences if and when they hap-pen to you. You can freely choose to interpret them in any way you want, there is always the interpretation of why me? Why does everything bad happen to me? Or you can inter-pret it as I am grateful it was me and truly being grateful for this experience. You can also ask yourself what is or are the lesson(s) from this? How and what steps can I now take in order to move on? No one can tell you that the sun is shining if at your window you only see storm clouds, rainy skies and disaster. No one can tell you that life isn’t simply amazing regardless of your circumstances, if at your window you can only see and feel the radiant rays of the warm sunshine. All of life’s experi-ences are based on the view from your little window.

AnY moment is the Time For Change

I was reluctantly about to start re-reading a magazine in the lounge of the JFK International Airport because

of a flight delay, when a conversation among three females piqued my interest. Cliché though it might have been, the conversation about what point in a woman’s life should she shake things up struck a chord with me, because I know so many women who are fed up with where they are, but have found that change is not at all easy. Life as a woman has never been easy in a world so skewed towards our male counter-parts, and there are sacrifices that we have made that some-times lead to progress in one area of our lives and stagnation in others. When should we bite the bullet and let go of the

status quo and shake things up?

Just ask *Toni Perkins who discloses that she has been in a relationship with a married man for over a year. Even though she knows that it is unfair to the man’s family and her as well, Toni finds it hard to walk away because of how well he treats her. She speaks about the situation with an air of resigna-tion that is a bit unsettling, “This is something that I am very ashamed of but sometimes in life you get caught in situations that you really never expected yourself to be in, and you just find yourself just rolling with the punches.”

When you are not happy where you are, and you are not quite sure if you want to leave or how to leave, you are in the meantime. Its a state of limbo. You are hanging on, ready to let go, afraid to fall, not wanting to hurt yourself, afraid you will hurt someone else. In the meantime, you pray the other person will let go first so that you will not feel guilty.-IyanlaVanzant

Toni relates that she knows that her family members and some of her peers might not approve, but she felt a bit at ease sharing with these ladies that she had only just met.

“It was like one day I said to myself that things just can’t continue like this; it was hard letting go and even though he kept calling and messaging, I just had to let him know I wasn’t comfortable with being the other woman,” Toni explained. I couldn’t help noting to myself the significance of her sharing in a setting like this. Maybe this change in her life was just too groundbreaking not to share, especially since she couldn’t share with the people in her life.

Today’s world is moving at such a fast pace that the time to seize any opportunity is now; forget about what happened in the past. If you feel the need to put that business plan that you have been sitting on into action, don’t put too much time into worrying about the potential pitfalls. We often waste the moment worrying about the precariousness of

a decision when we should realize that we will be offered another chance if things go south.

A difficult challenge is to stop measuring who and where you are in relation to what is going on around you. Concentrate on the vision and not on the weather; the number of ships passing by is not your concern, they are all distractions and the time is and has always been now.
