Adams Playhouse on the campus of Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York

TWUSA GUIDELINES Teachers and chaperones, in order to make the theatrical experience as pleasurable as

possible for your group and all others in attendance, we ask that you review the following information with the students at least one day prior to your field trip. Subsequent pages contain important information for your group and bus drivers. 1. NO FOOD, DRINKS OR SNACKS OF ANY KIND are permitted in the theater or lobby—this

includes bagged lunches and coolers. 2. NO CAMERAS or recording equipment of any kind are permitted inside the theater. 3. For many students, this performance will be their first experience with live theater.

Instead of talking and whispering during the performance, please wait until after the show to discuss or comment about it. Also, no running, shouting or disruptive behavior at any time before, during, or after the show. Ushers may ask chaperones to remove disruptive children.

4. The performance lasts approximately one hour and restroom and drinking fountain

privileges during that time must be reserved for absolute emergencies only (and then, as always, children must be accompanied by an adult).

5. For seating, please follow the instructions of the house staff at all times. 6. All patrons, regardless of age, must purchase a ticket to enter the theater. Teachers and chaperones, please take an active role in watching over the students in your care and assisting them in maintaining appropriate behavior. We hope you enjoy the show.

Your Performance Location

Adams Playhouse on the campus of Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York

For TWUSA performances at The Adams Playhouse, please plan to arrive at least 20 minutes

before curtain time. Doors open approximately 30 minutes before curtain time.

Directions: BUSES are to unload passengers at the South Campus entrance to Hofstra

University on the South side of the Hempstead Turnpike. Groups should walk through this entrance and proceed one block to the playhouse. Buses are to proceed to the North Campus to park and may return to the same location to pick up students. For CARS please see information on the following page.

Seating: please follow the instructions of the house staff at all times and please make sure that your children fill every seat, not leaving any empties between them

Groups must stay outside the theater, off the steps, and check in with the greeter before entering the building. Also, PLEASE CHECK YOUR TICKET FOR TOTAL ADMISSIONS (MUST INCLUDE TEACHERS, CHAPERONES AND STUDENTS)!

BUS DIRECTIONS TO HOFSTRA’S JOHN CRANFORD ADAMS PLAYHOUSE

Travel on the Long Island Expressway to Exit 39 S (Glen Cove Road). Take Glen Cove Road south, over Old Country Road. Glen Cove Road become Clinton Avenue. Continue south to Hempstead Turnpike (Route 24). Make a left onto Hempstead Turnpike, traveling East. Go through the town of Hempstead to Hofstra University. Pass Oak Street. Public Safety will meet the bus on the right side of Hempstead Turnpike, before the second overpass. You will walk south to the Playhouse.

OR

Travel on the Long Island Expressway to Exit 41 S (Route 106/107), bearing right and staying on Route 106 (Newbridge Road). Take it down to Hempstead Turnpike (Route 24), making a right onto Hempstead Turnpike. Travel West for a few miles, going over the Meadowbrook Parkway. Go down about one mile more to the Hofstra Campus. Go under 2 overhead walkways. Make a u-turn at the next light (Oak Street), traveling East for about 70 feet. Public Safety will meet the bus on the right side of Hempstead Turnpike, before the overpass. You will walk south to the Playhouse.

For those traveling via cars, please stop by Public Safety (on the corner

of Hempstead Turnpike and California Avenue) to obtain a parking pass

for the day. Thant will allow you to park on any “open parking” on

either side of the campus. The parking on the South Side (where the

Playhouse is located) is hard to obtain, as most students park over here.

It is suggested that you park on the North Campus and walk across the

middle Unispan and then over to the Playhouse. If you chose to park in

the North Campus, you don’t have to worry about obtaining a parking

pass. It is a bit of a walk, but that would be the best option.
