Once you understand the concepts and opportunities in IoT, the PTC University course “Making the Transition to IoT” is the perfect next step to deepen your knowledge and gain first practical experience. This course focuses at professionals who need to get up to speed with this massive wave happening in our industry, but don’t need to dive into the technical details of the ThingWorx platform. “Making the Transition to IoT” and is a standard training in the PTC University portfolio. As such, you can book from our schedule or request an instructor to come onsite if you would like to train a group of people.

New to IoT?
Getting started is easier than you think! Begin with a free-of-charge MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) to learn more about the concepts and opportunities offered by IoT. These courses – which have been developed by PTC’s Academic Program – are suited for everyone who would like to understand the exciting opportunities in IoT as a self-paced experience.
PTC University and the PTC Academic Program are collaborating closely to provide industry-relevant learning content to academic institutions and students and promote best practices to the global community of young developers.

ThingWorx trainings
Everyone working with the ThingWorx platform automatically gets access to the “Introduction to ThingWorx” eLearning course which is integrated in the software. Topics and lectures can easily be accessed through the PTC Learning Connector window within the application or through the web-based portal, which also includes access to free tutorials and other learning content sourced by PTC experts.
A variety of classroom trainings can be found and purchased via our regular course schedule, or you can request an instructor to come onsite if you need to train a team.

8 hours/day, depending on topic they take 1 – 5 days
4 hours/day, running over 2 – 10 days
This is basically a flipped classroom – you work through the eLearning course, but get access to an instructor via a private community and at several hours over a certain period in time

Physical or virtual classroom?
People have different learning styles, but we all have in common that we have busy schedules so we would like to have a choice when it comes to the delivery format. While some prefer to solely learn at their own pace via eLearning, others value the opportunity to interact with an experienced instructor to ask questions and receive expert feedback. However, travel cost and absence from work may forbid participating in a longer offsite training engagement.

This is the latest addition to the PTC University family of IoT trainings. It was designed for developers who have already gone through the “Introduction to ThingWorx” training (either by eLearning or ILT), but need assistance applying these concepts to a real world project. The MakerLab runs over 2 weeks through a virtual, instructor-led environment with a small group of participants. Attendees will bring their own project to work on, and work side by side with our IoT Excellence Center SMEs to implement their next use cases. As a result, they make faster progress on their current project while learning best practices at the same time. If your objective is to achieve robust results at high speed, the MakerLab will be right for you.
