    Help support the MODESTO DIXIELAND

JAZZ SOCIETY by placing an advertisement for your business in the Jazzette.

Let me start my column with some thanks. Thanks to Charlie Hull and the K Street Ramblers for their performance last month. Thank you to all of you who attended the set by our New Orleans Travellin’ Band. We enjoyed it and judging by your response, you enjoyed it, too. By the time you read this, our trip to the Crescent City will be over. Just ask any of us and we’ll be glad to tell you more than you want to hear about our trip!

    • • • Well, here it is. After months of planning, phone calls, and e-mails our rent party is all set. I cannot stress enough how important it is for you to attend this party. If you haven’t noticed, over the past several months, our attendance has been declining. If you attend a board meeting and look at the treasurer’s report, you will see a corresponding decline in our bank balance. The bands that will be performing at our party realize the importance of our jazz society and have backed that up by donating their services. Please match their donation by attending and spending your money on a worthy cause….MDJS!

    • • • Elections are coming up in June. We have several people who have expressed interest in running for board positions. Contact Darrel Staats at (209) 522-2317 if you are interested in joining the run! Some board members have ex-pressed a desire to retire from the board. Seize the opportunity if you have been entertaining thoughts about becoming more involved. Even if you aren’t interested in holding a position on the board, please consider attending a board meeting. The board welcomes your attendance and suggestions.
