Thank you to our departingBoard of Directors Officers JD & Janine

Early this year, I made the decision tostep down from the NAMI LaneCounty Board of Directors. It hasbeen my privilege to serve on theBoard for the past four years; for thelast three years, I have had the honorof serving as the President of theBoard of Directors. Stepping downwas one of the most difficult decisionsI have ever made, and I amtremendously grateful for the time Ihave been a part of this organization. It is no secret that I was somewhatreluctant to take on the role of BoardPresident when I did; I felt I lackedthe experience needed to be effectivein the job. At the time, we wereworking diligently on our reaffiliationproject and the Board had beenwithout a President for some time. Asunprepared as I felt before I acceptedthe position, I still underestimatedthe work to be done. But I quickly learned that as dauntingas my responsibilities could be, theNAMI LC staff was more than capableof rising to any challenge. Over theyears, I have watched our staff andvolunteers work tirelessly to advanceNAMI LC’s mission, and I have seentremendous growth in theorganization and its members. Theyhave overcome hardships that seemedinsurmountable time and again, andby now I convinced that there isnothing they cannot do. Jennifer andI quickly developed a strong workingrelationship, and now I step awayconfident that I leave the organizationin dedicated, resilient, and capablehands. I have met incredible people in mytime with NAMI LC, people who leaveme humbled by their kindness, theircompassion, and their dedication tohelping others. Despite the steeplearning curve, despite the challengeswe faced, I never felt anything lessthan deeply honored to be trustedwith the position of President. I willalways be in awe of how willing themembers of this organization are togive of themselves for the benefit ofothers. As I step back from my position on

It has been an honor to serve on theNAMI Lane County Board ofDirectors. Our family will be movingfrom Oregon this summer and I must, sadly, step down from the board.

Although I am sad to leave the board,I am very excited to see where thenew members will take NAMI of LaneCounty this year. I believe we have anincredible set of individuals withvarious backgrounds, experience, skills, knowledge and education tomove the organization forward.During my time with the board, I wasastounded by the grit and theperseverance of the NAMI staff. Lastyear brought on unique challenges tothe organization but everyone cametogether to uphold the NAMIMission. They are a small but mightyteam.

I also was fortunate enough to workalongside some wonderful volunteers. They are driven by passion and arealways so eager to take initiative. They have shown to be the backboneto NAMI of Lane County.

Thank you for allowing me theopportunity to serve on the board. Iam humbled by the experience andwill truly miss being part of this greatorganization.

Janine Amador, Former VicePresident of NAMI of Lane CountyBoard

the Board, I find myself excited to seewhere the future will take thisorganization. I could never havepredicted how far we have come fromwhere we were when I firstjoined. But if I have learned anythingin my time with NAMI Lane County,it is this: though we may not knowexactly where we are going, we will doamazing things along the way! Thank you all, J.D. Olsen, former President of theBoard of Directors
