We offer courses in this brochure that will provide you with interest and enjoyment straight away, and lasting value beyond that.

Most of the courses here provide learning in our specialist areas of arts, craft and media, languages, and a wide range of interest, health and fitness options. For brand new courses this year, try Gluten Free Baking or our Cornish Language Workshop.

We also hope to interest you in qualification opportunities – please see pages 13-15. If you think you can’t go to university, think again with our Access to Higher Education programme (page 12).

We are particularly keen to get people to think about English and maths qualifications because we know that getting one has the potential to change your life. 1000 people are

doing this every year, and you could be one of them. It works well to do this alongside an ICT qualification. Did you know that people who have a Level 2 maths qualification are far more likely to earn a higher salary than those who don’t? To get an introductory ‘Step-in’ please see page 11.

Finally, I am pleased to say that for the third year running we have not increased our fees, which we hope is helpful.

How can I enrol? You should apply for your course at least two weeks before the start date. There are a number of ways you can apply:

Online You can apply for courses online at www.cornwall.gov.uk/adultlearning Please note that free courses can only be booked by calling 0300 1231 117 or calling in to your local centre (see page 2).

By post Fill in the application form in this brochure ensuring all 4 sides are completed. Sign and return it to your local centre (see page 2). Please make cheques payable to Cornwall Council.

By phone Call our enquiry line on 0300 1231 117. You will need to pay over the phone, so please have your credit or debit card handy.

In person Call in to your local centre (see page 2). You can make payments by credit card, debit card, cheque or cash.

16+ The minimum age for most courses is 16. You must be 16 on or before 31 August 2018.

ICT City and Guilds Functional skills ICT is a nationally recognised qualification that will give you the practical skills required for everyday life, education and the workplace. We offer 5 different levels from complete beginner up to Level 2.

Beginners and those with some skills start here. Learn how to send and receive email, search the internet, create documents, use simple spreadsheets and work with files and folders. We’ll show you how to stay safe and use passwords.

You will be expected to tackle practical tasks that require you to search for and develop information and present your results in an appropriate format. You will work with Office software including Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Access.

If you are aged 19-23 on the first day of learning without a full level 3 qualification you may be eligible for fee remission. You will need to sign a self-declaration.
