PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

I am writing the last weekend in April. It is snowing with a blanket on snow on cars and grass. We really need the moisture; I would prefer rain, but nature has something else in store for us. Surprises are always enlightening!

Most of my perennials are showing signs of life as lovely new green shoots are emerging. I am always thankful to see plants that survived another winter. I hope all the gardening enthusiasts are ready for the next steps.

Broxburn Vegetables: Kingsland will host a vegetable truck which will feature fresh produce grown in Alberta. Tuesdays from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm in our parking lot at 505-78 Ave SW. You will remember Broxburn from the Kingsland Farmers Market. Please come and support the initiative to bring fresh vegetables to our community.

Kingsland Membership Renewals are due in the month of May but can be bought at any time of the year; this one is easy—residents, please go to the website for on-line renewals: http://kingslandcommunity.ca/ or look in the “Kingsland Post” monthly newsletter where it fea-tures a membership form.

Volunteer Appreciation Social – The feedback from the volunteers was very positive Tristan the “Roving Magi-cian” did not disappointment us. A huge thank-you to “Save On Foods” for donating the pizza for the event. This is an annual event to thank all the volunteers who work hard all year to support events. A special thank-you to the Social Director, Donna, and her support team who plan events all year-round. Planning Committee Director, Darren, and his support team who are always on-the-go reviewing the next development application and collaborating with the developer and communicat-ing with City Hall. A big thank-you to Ken, who manages

the Lifecycle for Kingsland Community Association. He coordinates the hall maintenance so that everything functions at optimum level. He is also our ice guru who organizes flooding of the ice rinks for our recreational pleasure. Jessica, as Treasurer, oversees our financials are in order and transparent. All board members are very vital in their function as support team to the board. Every volunteer who supports the community is very much appreciated; that is why we live in a fabulous community.

Many residents are asking what happened to the rink. The rink is being replaced; the contractor is working on the rink as I write. The rink will continue to have one bas-ketball court and we will also be introducing pickle ball. The KCA will be post the completion of the rink as soon as it is available for use.

June 27, 2019 will be the last board meeting until Sep-tember as most of the board will taking a well-earned summer break.

I leave you with an inspirational quote: “Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending.” - Maria Robinson”

KINGSLAND PRESCHOOL NEWS

Our classroom was an amazing place with many oppor-tunities to learn in the month of May!

We treated our Moms and the other special women in our lives with a Mother’s Day Tea. We sang for them, (there might have been a few tears – from the Moms). We served them lemonade in real china teacups, and we presented them with beautiful handmade jewellery.

We watched caterpillars grow from tiny caterpillars and form chrysalises and now we wait for them to emerge as butterflies.

We celebrated our year of learning with our annual Art Walk and Celebration of Learning. The classroom was trans-formed into a gallery for everyone to enjoy the displays of art and projects that had been done during the school year.

As teachers, it was inspiring to see the collaborative work that the children had worked on throughout the year. We are so proud of the growth and development that was accomplished in our classroom.

This time of year is bittersweet as we say goodbye to our older children and their families. We are excited for each child as they move forward to new adventures in Kinder-garten. We will be happy to welcome back many students and we will be excited to meet new friends in the fall.

We have a few spaces left in some of our classes for Sep-tember so please contact us at [email protected] or 403-258-1308. We would love to meet with you and tell you about our preschool.
