Your Institution Profile The interactive application
Within the Online Portal information concerning
the players of the German water research, their
competences as well as regional and thematic
emphasises, their networks and offers for education
and training is collected and presented.
With the information of the contributing institutions it
is possible to provide a participative designed online
research portal according to a ‘Wikipedia’-approach*.
By entering your institution specific data the research
community has access to the following contents:
• Institutions in Germany with a focus on water
research
• Thematic areas of the respective institutions
• National and international projects and related
countries
• National and international networks
• University courses and contents
*ThedataisrecordedinadatabaseattheUFZandwillbenottransferredtothird
parties.
For the water research community a couple of
information are provided in a search engine. After
a free registration, the research portal permits
comprehensive queries in different fields:
For scientists:
• Search for current research projects
• Expert search for specific topics
• Potential project partners in specific countries
For students:
• Programs of study with different foci
• Study courses at respective states in Germany
• Graduate schools
For funding agencies:
• relevant topics
• Focal points
• Possible gaps within the current research
landscape
The analysis of the collected data within an interactive
application enables a walkthrough the German water
research landscape and get to know the registered
institutions, their thematic focus areas, projects and
national as well international cooperations.

collaboration with whom? Where can I find my
favourite university course? The Online Portal
Water Research offers the possibility to get a broad
overview over the German research institutions with
a focus on water research.
This dynamic platform is a tool for researchers and
research funding organisations. Through the help of
the involved players of the German water research
community, the Online Portal Water Research is
regularly updated and developed by the actors
themselves.

Water Science Alliance
The Water Science Alliance is an initiative for joining
and strengthening the existing competences
in water research in Germany in a national and
international context.
Since the initiation of the Water Science Alliance
in 2010 the Online Portal Water Research has
been contributing significantly to the setup of the
initiative. It acts as a tool for the enhancement of
transparency within as well for networking between
the players of the water research community in
Germany.
