Newsletter Your Insight Into All Things NJY Camps- Milford!

Louis Stromberg Joins Us for an Exclusive Q&A

Meet the New Director of Cedar Lake Camp!

Page 2

Q&A Q: Now to the hard hitters, what is a

hidden talent of yours most people never

see?

A: There is no hot sauce too strong… I can

handle ‘em all!

Q: If you could only listen to one artist for

the rest of your life, who would you

choose and why?

A: Tough one...so many to choose

from. It really depends on my

mood, I love classic rock, indie

rock, and hip hop. A few of my

favorites are Queen, Tom Petty,

and A Tribe Called Quest. When

at camp though, I like James

Taylor.

Q: What is the best Hannukah

present you have ever received?

A: When I was in middle school

my parents gifted my sisters and me with a

puppy named Sophie.

Q: If you had to pick, which Disney/Pixar

film is your favorite?

A: OOOOO another tough one! Let’s break

this down. For Disney it’s The Lion King,

with Hercules as the runner up. For Pixar

it’s Toy Story and it’s not even close!

Q: Are you prepared to lead the camp in

“Home Away From Home” after Shabbat

services?

A: You better believe it!

Q: Welcome to CLC Louis! First and foremost, how

are you feeling in your first weeks here?

A: A few weeks in and I’m feeling great! I love the

team here, everyone is passionate, energized, and

excited for the 100th summer of CLC!

Q: What was the deciding factor in joining the

NJY family?

A: The tradition. CLC has a

century of remarkable history

that I want to be a part of. Also,

when I visited the office I could

feel the excitement of this place!

Q: Is there something you are

most looking forward to in

your inaugural summer at CLC?

A: Besides Color War? I can’t

wait to meet all of the campers

and staff!

Q: Why is camping so important to you?

A: I was a camper starting at the age of 7. Between

the lifelong friendships, the activities, and the new

skills I learned, camp really helped to form who I

am today. That’s something I want to pay forward

to both campers and counselors alike.

Q: What do you most enjoy about running a

camp?

A: There is no better feeling than walking around

camp and seeing the pure fun and joy.

Q: In terms of Cedar Lake, what sticks out to you

as being unique?

A: The facility is truly unique...the dome, the

waterfront, the shops...it’s all amazing!

Welcome Louis Stromberg!

Did you know the camps were

originally named the Felix Fuld Camps?

Felix Fuld, born in Frankfort-on-Main, Germany in 1868, came

to the US at age 12. He co-founded Bamberger’s Department

Store. Devoted to charity and education, in 1921 he was one of

the founders of New Jersey Federation of YMHA’s and YWHA’s

(legal name for NJY Camps!) and became its president.

Whatever your occupation, whatever your

skill set, camp is always looking for parents and

professionals to add to our summer team!
