Your Guide to Welcome Week Activities Welcome Week is full of activities to help you explore your Penn State home, connect with new friends and faculty, learn about academic opportunities, and discover something new. Many of the activities held during Welcome Week are required for new students; however you will have some choices. Don’t miss the Signature Events, indicated with a . Signature Events are required. Come talk with representatives from Housing, Food Service, Police, Housing Assignments, Residence Life, and the Parents Program. There will be a short introduction followed by a question and answer session. Everyone is welcome. See your RA for Dinner and Floor Meetings Meet with your resident assistant (RA) and the rest of the students on your floor for this important floor meeting and dinner. Learn more about policy, the campus, and each other. 5:00pm-6:30pm LEAP Commuter Student Dinner Pollock Dining Commons - Meet at Pollock Commons Desk Local commuting students participating in LEAP will gather for dinner to meet other off-campus students and engage in some welcoming activities. 7:00pm-8:00pm LEAP Summer Welcome Meeting Eisenhower Auditorium LEAPers will meet the Summer Session office staff, student mentors, and members of their Prides. *Mandatory for all LEAP students. 8:30pm-11:00pm Rock the Ice Pegula Ice Arena Cool off after moving in! Enjoy ice skating to the sounds of a popular local band. Monday, June 29 1:30pm-3:30pm 3-on-3 Basketball Tornament Courts behind Mifflin Hall, Pollock Quad Are you a Baller? Guess we will see. Bring your three person team to the courts behind Mifflin Hall. Prizes will be awarded for first and second place winners. Let the games begin. 1:30pm-3:30pm Eating & Working in Residential Dining Main Seating Area in Redifer Commons A general overview of our five dining halls and what to expect at each location along with information and benefits of working in residential dining. 1:30pm-2:30pm Tour of Town Meet out in front of the Pollock Commons Entrance (Doors closest to Heister Hall) Take a tour of downtown State College. Enjoy Banachek, the world’s leading mentalist, and kick-off your summer at an evening planned just for you! 9:30pm-1:30am LateNight Penn State HUB-Robeson Center You won’t want to miss LateNight! Enjoy free food, comedy, magic, a rock climbing wall, and the shark attack. Create a peronalized street sign, amazing balloons, and crafts to decorate your room. Tuesday, June 30 College Dean’s Meetings for All New Students Your College Dean’s Meeting is the official welcome to your academic college. You will meet college deans, faculty, and staff to learn about academic advising, expectations, resources, and academic and cocurricular opportunities within your college. Assistance with course scheduling and registration adjustments may be discussed following the meeting. College Dean’s Meetings are required.
