Sport Imperial strives to provide opportunities for everyone of all abilities and fitness levels to be active.

Here we set out some of the ways we encourage participation, from our facilities and programmes to ways of getting involved with one of the many sports clubs.

ACTIVE IMPERIAL5 WAYS TO WELLBEING

Our recreational sports programme offers a large variety of drop in sports sessions, fitness classes, wellbeing activities and league sport - all for only £15 a term.

From drop-in sports sessions to activities that focus on your health and wellbeing, it’s never been easier to move more and feel better!

If you want to try the programme out, but don't want to go alone, then bring a friend for free for up to three sessions and discover something new together.

ETHOS SPORTS CENTRE

Ethos is our flagship sports centre based in Prince’s Gardens, South Kensington. The gym has been newly refurbished for the start of the 2018-19 academic year.

MEMBERSHIPStudents have access to all swim and gym facilities for £30 a year. Student memberships run from 1 September –31 August.

Alternatively, students can opt for a free student membership which provides access to Ethos sports centre, off-peak access to the pool and use of the facilities and classes at student rates.

Staff can choose between several membership options.

ACTIVE LIFESTYLES TEAMThe Active Lifestyles Team works hard to ensure a path to fitness for those looking to be more active. From leading group classes to giving personal advice, the team are on hand to offer motivation and support.

SPORTS THERAPYFrom sports massage to physiotherapy, we have sports therapy services at Ethos that will help you to feel like your best self.

COACHING AND LESSONSImprove your skills and confidence. We currently offer coaching and lessons for squash and swimming. You can speak to Ethos staff to find out about getting support in other sports.

PERSONAL TRAININGIf you have a particular goal in mind, or want that extra push of encouragement, train with one of our qualified personal trainers.

Throughout the year Sport Imperial run a range of participation events open to everyone of any fitness level at the College.

Some of our past events include: One Big Thing 5k run, Healthy Living Week and Imperial Girls Can.

EVENTS

We run a wide range of classes to suit users of all levels of fitness and interests. Come along and try out some classes, and discover which is your favourite.

UNLIMITED CLASS BOLT ON

These are passes that are added to your College ID card and entitle you to attend unlimited group classes within a month. You can purchase these on the membership pages.

CLUB SPORT

Imperial College Union offer around 90 sports clubs as part of their 370+ clubs, societies and projects.

Sports clubs are run by students and are supported by Sport Imperial.

During the first week of term, the clubs run their sports trials and throughout the year offer taster sessions giving you the chance to try something new.

BRITISH UNIVERSITIES AND COLLEGES SPORT (BUCS)

BUCS is the national organisation for higher education sport in the UK, providing sporting competition for Universities across the country.

Imperial ranked 23rd overall at the end of the 2017/18 season and number 1 in London and the South East. We have entered 85 teams for the 2018/19 season and will enter individuals into a broad range of sports throughout the year.

LONDON UNIVERSITIES SPORTS LEAGUE (LUSL)

LUSL is a pan-London sports competitionfor higher education institutions. There arehundreds of teams competing across theregion and we have 75 teams taking partacross the 14 sports. The frequency of fixtures and format of competition depends on the sport. LUSL is coordinated to compliment the BUCS competition framework and participation in bothleagues for Imperial teams is commonplace.

Give it a Go is an exciting way to try something new, meet new people at College and explore some of the wonderful things that our 350+ different clubs and societies have to offer before committing to membership.

SCHOLARSHIPS

Sport Imperial offers support to students who are competing at national and international levels enabling them to perform and develop in their chosen sports whilst studying at Imperial.

The support available is sport-specific and is tailored to the individual or team. It is aimed at providing practical solutions and services to students who have the talent and commitment to fulfil their potential within their chosen sport and their academic ventures.

In return recipients are asked to represent Imperial at sporting fixtures and assist the College in promoting the profile of their sport.
