Page 6 A.2. Introduction

A.2. INTRODUCTION SEE Electrical Expert is a software that allows you to draw circuit diagrams (power, control and distribution), and also pneumatic, hydraulic, instrumentation and grafcet diagrams. This tutorial aims, through an exercise, to show you the basics of the software.

For this, the installation of the software was performed in Standard mode.

The exercise duration is approximately 5 hours.

Attention:

1- The printer must be turned on and connected to the computer (its drivers installed), before launching the software. 2- The dongle must be present on the parallel or usb port on the computer.

Note:

By means of two separate commands you have the possibility to create two kinds of projects, based on different templates. These different templates, predefine the insertion mode and management of connections or of wires.

▪ Select New ➤ Project pop up command

Or

▪ Click the File ➤ New Project command

The New Project dialogue is displayed. It allows you to specify the project name and location as well as to select a project template.

▪ Enter the name of the project in the "Name" entry field (Example: TUTORIAL).

▪ In the “Location” field the default path to the Projects folder in which the new project is going to be created is proposed.

Or

▪ Click the button inside the “Location” field.

The Browse for location dialogue is displayed. ▪ Browse and specify another location for your project.

Note:

The button is not available if the command is executed from the pop- up menu or the corresponding icon and the default folder Projects is not modifiable.

▪ Click the tab corresponding to the environment you wish to associate the new project,

for example Elec_IEC.

▪ Click the icon to associate a template with the new project. At the end of the project creation a message informs you about the successful implementation of the process.

▪ Click OK within the message dialogue. ▪ Double click the project to open it.

B.1. Creating a project Page 9

The full project path and name are displayed at the bottom of the window. The entire project is constituted by only one file - "Project_Name.seeprj", “TUTORIAL.seeprj” in our example.

Note:

A project is a file on the hard disk of your computer in which the different sheets of your project will be stored. The project template "IEC Tagging" allows you to create and manipulate the projects according the IEC standard (example of IEC tagging: KM1).

B.2. DRAWING THE SHEETS

Since its creation, the project TUTORIAL contains 3 sheets: the sheet 01, the sheet 02 and the sheet 03 which are respectively reserved for the cover page, the list of the sheets and a first blank sheet.

You will rename the first empty sheet (the sheet 03) in: POWER. You will create a new sheet: CONTROL. The drawing of the sheets is executed in the diagram editor. The diagram editor allows you to draw all types of electrical and fluid diagrams. A library of symbols and predefined conductors is available.

Note:

The term "sheet" is used for indicating a page of the project. The number of sheets in a folder is unlimited.

B.2.1.a. OPEN THE SHEET

▪ Click the icon to open the Sheets Explorer. The list of the 3 sheets defined by default is displayed:

Tips:

You can, in the right window, enter the information related to the project: the title and the project number, customer name etc. These will appear in the title block.
