THERMOGRAPHY FOR NEW INSTALLATIONS
1769 Elmore Street, Cincinnati, OH 45223 (513)-271-5000 www.cooper-electric.net
(BEFORE) DIGITAL • Phase C is 80% covered with insulation tape from the factory installation. • You can see the insulation tape overlapped on the bus pad where it connects to the primary side of the 800-amp distribution breaker.

(AFTER) DIGITAL • We removed the insulation tape from the bus pad to expose the entire bus pad for a proper low impedance connection to the 800-amp distribution breaker.
(BEFORE) THERMO IMAGE • Primary Side of an 800-amp distribution breaker in a 3,000-amp GE Gear.
• The temperature dierence between Phase C and Phase B was 20 Degrees.
• The Breaker was 30% Loaded (280-amps)
(AFTER) THERMO IMAGE • Primary Side - AFTER - repair was made.
• The temperature dierence between Phase C and the other two phases is now within just 2 degrees.
• The Breaker is 30% Loaded (280-amps)
• This Thermal Inspection was performed on December 14th, 2011. Our Thermographer found a bad factory connection on Phase C which was detected because of a temperature rise during the infrared scan.
• The equipment is a 3,000 amp, 480/277 volt GE Free-Standing Switchgear, installed and operational in October 2011.
• This bad factory connection was detected by our Certied Professional Thermographer and prevented a hidden problem from causing equipment meltdown, and preventing thousands of dollars in damages and production losses.
