Join our enthusiastic volunteers who beautify local parks and bushland areas by removing weeds and litter and planting native plants. Meet like-minded people, learn about the environment and create habitat for local wildlife. The Environment Restoration Plan is a levy funded through your rates which provides a framework for environmental programs and on-ground works to improve the natural environment of Liverpool.

The Environment Volunteer Program (EVP) is a part of the ERP that provides an opportunity for community members to be directly involved in restoring Liverpool’s natural environment. The EVP supports volunteers by providing tools, equipment and a trained Bush Regenerator to assist with on-site activities, training and planning.

STREAMWATCH

StreamWatch is a long running citizen science water quality monitoring program. The monitoring program has strong quality assurance elements built in to ensure that results are sound, reliable and useful. All groups are required to follow the same methods and use approved equipment to sample and then enter their results into the StreamWatch website.

By engaging in the ecological investigation of local waterways, StreamWatch continues to act as an early warning system for pollution events, while the data provides a valuable record of waterway health.

COMMUNITY TREE PLANTINGPlanting trees is one of the best things that you can do in your community. Planting native trees and shrubs leads to better air quality, less noise, more shade and increases the visual amenity of the area.

Come along and help us plant native trees, shrubs and groundcovers to create habitat and food for native animals. It’s an opportunity to meet your neighbours, do something positive for your local environment and have fun.

Council supplies all plants and tools required. A qualified Bush Regenerator is always on site to provide support and show you how to plant correctly.

A free BBQ lunch is provided to all participants at the completion of planting. Bring a water bottle and wear closed in shoes, a long sleeved shirt and a hat.

Community Tree Planting events occur every month from March to October. For details, call Council on 1300 36 2170.

ENVIRONMENT GROUPSAreas across Liverpool are being progressively restored by enthusiastic volunteers. You don’t need to have any special skills or knowledge to be an environment volunteer. All you need is enthusiasm for improving your local area.

There are different ways to be involved depending on the amount of time you are able to commit.

Typical activities are planting of native plant species, weeding and litter removal. Volunteers can also be involved in water quality testing and pollinator surveys.

New members are always welcome. Come join a worthwhile activity in a social and friendly environment. Benefits to you include:
