Your car has a dashboard – why not your building?™

Building Dashboard® makes the environmental performance of buildings visible in real time on the web and on public displays. Lucid

Design Group’s hosted software is used by tens of thousands of people to understand, manage and compare resource consumption.

The intuitive Building Dashboard® user interface is designed specically to engage, educate, motivate and empower a non-technical

audience of building occupants to conserve resources. Interactive graphs and gauges display real-time performance data, allowing

occupants to connect energy and water use with the actions and events that take place within buildings.

How does it work?

Building Dashboard® collects resource use information every 60 seconds from utility meters and sub-meters, building automation

systems and energy management systems. Lucid’s o-site servers process and store a continuous record of your building’s perfor-

mance. Real-time and historical data are then displayed to building occupants on touchscreen kiosks and the web.

Compatible with any building

Lucid works directly with your facilities personnel to integrate with existing metering technology. Building Dashboard® is compatible

with all utility meters and sub-meters with either pulse or Modbus registers, as well as all building automation systems, including:

Building Dashboard® Starter

Buildings which do not have a building automation system and automated metering can take advantage of Lucid’s complete

hardware solution, Building Dashboard® Starter. The Starter package utilizes the plug-and-play Obvius AcquiSuiteTM data acquisition

system, and it includes energy meters and Lucid’s hosted software. All your building needs is an Internet connection.

Provides real-time data display over the web

Enable easy, reliable and fully automated data collection, processing, storage and real-time display of your building’s resource use

over the web. Lucid's o-site servers eliminate the need for on-site data management hardware and software and allow Building

Dashboard® to be displayed on any kiosk or personal computer.

Places resource use in context

Translate resource consumption and production data into units that are accessible and engaging to a non-technical audience. For

example, consumption and savings can be expressed in dollars, equivalent hours of lightbulb use, pounds of CO2 emitted into the

atmosphere and more.

Makes instant comparisons within and among buildings

Compare your building’s current consumption to consumption during a prior period, or see how your building is performing at this

moment relative to other buildings at your facility. View energy and water consumption and conservation within a building, for

individual oors and for dierent end-uses such as lighting, HVAC and plug loads.

Enables building energy and water use reduction competitions

Challenge occupants in dierent buildings at your facility to reduce energy and water consumption. Keep track of building perfor-

mance during a competition while also tracking your building’s ranking across a campus of competing buildings in real time. Studies

show that real-time feedback in this context can facilitate reductions of up to 56%.

Showcases green building features

Communicate to students, employees, clients and visitors the innovative building systems, green technologies or energy conservation

strategies, including LEED® points and other sustainability initiatives, employed throughout a building or landscape, or across an

entire campus.

Renders the performance of green technologies visible

Make the performance of solar photovoltaic, solar thermal, rainwater catchment and geothermal systems and other green technolo-

gies visible, engaging and interpretable by the general public. View real-time heating and cooling demand, energy production or

water savings, and track these in the context of total building consumption.

Enhances research, monitoring and verication and carbon accounting

Allow building managers and other authorized users to download archived variables over any timescale – minute, hourly, daily,

weekly, monthly or yearly – into an Excel® spreadsheet with Data Downloader. Data can be used for classroom exercises, monitoring

and verication and troubleshooting.

Improves LEED® ratings

Let Building Dashboard® contribute to your case for Measurement and Verication and Innovation in Design credits toward USGBC

LEED® certication for both LEED-NC and LEED-EB.

Makes your organization part of a large and growing community

Join schools and companies across the U.S. in comparing resource use and competing to reduce consumption. Gain access to tools

that enable sharing of best practices, enhance educational opportunities and showcase your organization’s commitment to environ-

mental stewardship.

Can we upgrade our Building Dashboard® in the future?

Expanding your Building Dashboard® is easy. Should you choose to include more buildings, utilities (electricity, water, natural gas, etc.)

or green technologies in your existing display, the Building Dashboard® Framework allows you to add them easily and cost eectively

without redesigning or repurchasing the display -- it can grow as more buildings and resources are metered at your facility or

throughout your campus.

As part of the Building Dashboard® Framework, your display will benet from ongoing service updates and periodic enhancements.

Because Lucid’s software is web-based, all maintenance and upgrades are issued remotely from our headquarters.

Is my public utility meter suitable for monitoring my building’s resource use?

Standard utility meters are generally not accessible by Building Dashboard® because they are not Internet-connected. Almost all

building automation systems, energy management systems, web-based data loggers and IP-enabled meters are suitable for use.

Can Lucid install or congure our meters, data loggers or touchscreen kiosks?

Lucid works directly with your facilities personnel to integrate with existing metering technology. Our goal is to establish connectivity

with your system so that we may display your data.

Lucid oers 32” and 42” touchscreen packages for showcasing Building Dashboard® in public spaces to engage occupants, clients and

visitors. Touchscreen computers are shipped pre-congured to run your Building Dashboard®. However, Lucid does not perform

on-site hardware installation. To learn more about touchscreen packages, please see the Building Dashboard® Touchscreen Guide.
