YOUNG WOMEN’S WELLNESS ACTIVITY GROUP Our WHY on creating this program Young women in their final years of high school are at a prime time in their development. They are naturally turning away from their parents and toward their peers for support, guidance, and community. Although this is a normal and necessary part of their maturation, it is also essential that they have both positive role models and a deeper understanding of their own wisdom. It is critical that they learn tools for stress management, emotion regulation, wellness, and relationship building. This multifaceted dynamic program will include experiential education, group process, movement, and psycho education. The skills they learn will provide a solid founda- tion for a healthy and well-rounded transition into adulthood. The Program Every session will have a unique theme, will run for 90 minutes, will include some sort of movement (strength and conditioning, different types of yoga, spinning), some inspirational work and teach sustainable tools for navigating life. We also plan on having small enjoyable practices/homework for the girls to do between ses- sions. Themes covered will include: Psychology of Eating, Brain Development, Yoga & Meditation, Strength Conditioning, Non-Violent Commu- nication, Group Dynamics, Stress Management, Macro Nutrient Balance, Emotion Regulation, Cultivating Healthy Relationships (with oneself and others), Body Image, and Understanding the impact of Addiction. DESCRIPTION

Dr. Eryn Michaud and Angela Freeman have teamed up to create an exciting new program for young women in the Wood River Valley. This is unique experiential opportunity will help support young women through the rest of high school and into their higher education. Eryn and I both remember how challenging high school was. Essentially, this program offers additional mentorship to Junior’s and Senior’s in areas that are not necessarily highlighted in traditional academics.
