GeneralDescriptionTheYoungKingisaproductiondesignedforastudioorsmallprosceniumarchvenue,forchildrenaged8andupandadults.ThemainsetconsistsofwoodpanelledwallsandafireplacetorepresenttheYoungKing’schamber.Upstageofthefireplaceseveralcut-outplywoodtreesstandinagrouptorepresentaforestthatisrevealedinthefinalmomentsoftheproduction(hiddenbehindthefireplace).Anadditionalwoodpanelledbookshelf(whichcanbeplacedinvariouslocationsdependingonthevenue)containssmalldioramasthattheperformersreferenceduringtheperformance.Pleasenote:InadditiontothemainperformanceSlingsbycuratesanimmersivepre-showentrypathwayandareafortheaudienceforaudienceengagementactivitiesincludingcrownmaking.Thescaleoftheimmersivepre-showexperienceisdeterminedbythelayoutofeachvenue.PleasediscusswithSlingsby.

CapacityStandardStudioset-up-140seatcapacitymaximumSlingsbycanprovide140seats(includingbenches)aspartoftheproduction.SeetheexampleTechnicalPlanforaStudioset-upwhichshowstheseatingconfiguration(attached).Capacityforastudiosettingmustbesetatamaximumof140seatsunlessnegotiatedinwritingdirectlywithSlingsbypriortoticketsgoingonsale.SmallProsceniumArchTheatreset-up–250seatcapacitymaximumForlargervenues–includingsmallprosceniumarchtheatres–otherconfigurationscanbenegotiatedwithSlingsbyforacapacityofupto250seats.SeetheexampleTechnicalPlanforaProsceniumArchvenueset-up(attached).

VenuePerformanceAreaTheperformanceareamustbeaminimumof11mwidex15mdeepx4mhigh(36’1”widex49’3”deepx13’1”high).Performanceareamustbeenclosedinblackdrape(exceptemergencyegresspoints).Note:ThePresentermayneedtoprovideapproximately35m(114’10”)ofpipeanddrapeatapproximately3m(9’10”)highplusstageweights/sandbagstobuild2xdividingwalls–seeexamplefloorplanattached.Pre-showAreaThepre-showareasarecreativelyreimaginedtosuittheindividuallayoutofeachvenue.PleasediscusswithSlingsby.
