It is a devastating and debilitating condition and most doctors have no real solution, except to say, “We don’t know what causes neuropathy, but we can help you live with it.” When medical doctors say, “we don’t know what causes neuropathy” it means that ‘medically speaking’ there is no known cause. So, you may ask, “If science shows that nerves can regenerate, why doesn’t my doctor tell me about it?” There are three main reasons: First, medicine is a drug-dominated profession and traditional medical doctors are taught that only drugs can heal, and there are no drugs that heal neuropathy. Second, for many decades doctors have also been taught that chiropractors and other natural health care providers are unscientific. Third, most medical doctors of today are ‘good people, caught up in a bad system’ that overwhelms them with a large volume of patient care, leaving them with little or no time to stay on top of the current research that confirms that, like all other body tissues, nerves do regenerate when the cause of the damage is removed. You Don’t Have To Live With Neuropathy

If you are reading this article, you are likely suffering from peripheral neuropathy, or you have a friend or loved one who suffers from this painful condition. Neuropathy, like so many other chronic diseases, has become common in recent decades. It is a devastating and debilitating condition and most doctors have no real solution, except to say, “We don’t know what causes neuropathy, but we can help you live with it.”

When medical doctors say, “we don’t know what causes neuropathy” it means that ‘medically speaking’ there is no known cause.

So, you may ask, “If science shows that nerves can regenerate, why doesn’t my doctor tell me about it?” There are three main reasons:

First, medicine is a drug-dominated profession and traditional medical doctors are taught that only drugs can heal, and there are no drugs that heal neuropathy.

The purpose of this article is to dispel the myth that we don’t know what causes neuropathy, and that there is no known cure for it. It will help you understand the cause of your neuropathy and provide you with up-to-date information on what you can do to heal your nerves and make neuropathy disappear.

What is neuropathy? The word neuropathy refers to nerve damage that causes chronic pain, numbness or other disruption of the function of nerves and the body parts that they regulate. The word combines the term neuro, which means nerve, and pathy, which means pathology or abnormal condition.

Divisions and sub-divisions of the nervous system that can be disrupted by neuropathy:

Central Nervous System: Refers to the brain and spinal cord.

Peripheral Nervous System: Nerves that leave the brain and spinal cord to supply the various organs and parts of your body.

Autonomic Nervous System: Often referred to as the automatic nervous system because it regulates body functions that keep us alive and healthy without our conscious thought.

Visceral Nervous System: The peripheral nerves that regulate the heart, lungs, liver, kidneys and other organs and glands.

But, chiropractors have dealt with neuropathy for over 120 years. As a matter of fact, one common cause of neuropathy, spinal nerve damage, has been the basis of chiropractic practice since the very beginning of the profession; and until a few decades ago spinal nerve damage was the most common cause of neuropathy. In recent years other lifestyle causes have been added and must be addressed; but it’s a scientific fact that nerves do regenerate. . . Neuropathy is reversible.

Forms of Neuropathy: Generally speaking neuropathy can affect any nerve in the body. The most common forms are:

Common Causes of Neuropathy:

Diabetic Neuropathy: Excess blood sugar (glucose) can damage nerves and cause health problems throughout the body. Diabetic neuropathy symptoms can range from pain and numbness in your extremities to problems in your digestive, urinary, blood vessel and heart, or anywhere in your body, and can be disabling or fatal. But, what most diabetes sufferers don’t know is that diabetes can also be reversed. But don’t expect your doctor to help you reverse any disease. He/she doesn’t have time, and there is much more money in treating the disease than in teaching people how to regain their health.

Spinal Nerve Damage: Abnormal motion or position of the spinal bones (vertebrae) can damage nerves and cause peripheral or visceral neuropathy, and a wide variety of health problems. Chiropractors use the term “vertebral subluxation” to describe this type of neuropathy. Spine-related neuropathy can result in dysfunction anywhere in the body.

Nutritional Nerve Damage: Nutritional neuropathy is much more common in our times than it was with our ancestors who had a much wider variety of fresh foods, raised on nutritional rich soil. Our consumption of processed foods, synthetic man-made foods, and toxic chemical preservatives, imitation flavors, and other chemical additives is a major cause of neuropathy.

Chemical Nerve Damage: Our lives are filled with toxic, man-made chemicals. Many of these are neuro-toxins that can, and do, damage our nervous system. Ironically, many of these toxic chemicals are given to us by doctors in the form of drugs that cause damage to our nervous system. More information about the neuro-toxic side effects of drugs is available at www.drugs.com. More information about environmental toxins is available at Environmental Working Group at www.ewg.com.

Peripheral neuropathy: This term is generally used to describe damage to

the nerves that control the upper extremities (arms and hands) and lower

extremities (legs and feet), but by definition, peripheral nerves are those

outside of the brain and spinal cord and peripheral neuropathy can affect

any nerve and any body part or function.

Visceral neuropathy: This is a form of peripheral neuropathy that involves the nerves that control any of the internal organs of our digestive, circulatory, respiratory, reproductive or other body system.

Removing The Causes As the causes are addressed, nerves can regenerate and the neuropathy disappears. This can be simple and relatively easy or more complex when there are several causes. Either way, the reward is worth the effort. . . as you “get your life back” from this debilitating condition.

In many cases spinal nerve interference is the major cause. In these cases chiropractic adjustments can correct the cause and the body is able to regenerate the nerve.

We Can Help If you are committed to making your neuropathy disappear, we can help. For almost six decades we have watched nerves regenerate and the body restore its health when the causes of nerve damage are removed.

Over the past thirty years we have developed a system of health restoration based on helping people correct the spinal, nutritional and chemical causes of neuropathy and other health problems, so the body can heal itself naturally, and reduce their need for doctors and drugs.

Where to Begin

The quickest way to begin is by talking with your chiropractor.

We are trained to locate and correct mechanical problems in the spine that cause nerve damage.

We can also help you improve your diet and evaluate the side effects of any drugs you may be taking.

And if necessary, we can help you find a doctor who will work with you in reducing your medications.

A few words about natural health. . . That’s the only kind there is!

Many of the preservatives, flavor enhancers, colorings and other chemicals in processed foods, junk foods and fast foods are known neurotoxins. . . they damage nerves.

For many people changing the way we eat is a major issue. “I eat what I want” is the mantra of many people.

But “getting your life back” may be worth the effort. . . If it is, we can help. For nearly six decades, I have dedicated my life to helping people like you, who are willing to commit to making the right choices.

Neuropathy, and other serious health issues are side-effects of many drugs. We can help you evaluate these risks so that you can discuss them with your doctor.

We don’t tell people to stop taking drugs, or to change the recommendations of other licensed health care providers.

We don’t want to take charge of your health. . . We do want to help you take charge of your health.

“This might cause neuropathy, but that

would take your mind off your dry skin”
