Winter Garden Police Department’s Citizens Police Academy Accepting ApplicationsEver wonder what goes on inside your police department? Get your questions answered at the next Citizens Police Academy class! The Winter Garden police officers and staff will discuss such topics as crime prevention, defensive tactics and criminal investigations. Class participants will also be eligible to go on a ride along with an officer, see a K9 demonstration and experience a Winter Garden jail tour.

Anyone 18 years or older interested in participating can download an application at www.wgpd.com or pick one up at the Winter Garden Police Department located at 251 West Plant Street. Winter Garden Prescription Drug Discount CardThe City of Winter Garden has a program to help provide residents with some relief from the high cost of prescription drugs. The city has prescription drug discount cards available to city residents through a program sponsored by the National League of Cities (NLC). The discount cards offer city residents an average savings of 20 percent off the retail price of commonly prescribed drugs.

The discount cards may be used by all residents of Winter Garden and has no restrictions based on the resident’s age, income level or existing health coverage. The NLC card can be used when purchasing prescription drugs at area pharmacies around the city, as well as at more than 59,000 participating retail pharmacies across the country. The discount card program is administered by CVS Caremark.
