Let Yorkdale Ignite Your Passion For Life and LearningWe help students 21+ earn high school credits or certification inan adult setting free of charge. Yorkdale's certification programsinclude Business/I.T., Personal Trainer, Hairstyling, P.S.W.,Childcare Assistant, and Co-operative Education. We offerongoing support and many program options that recognize astudent's need to combine school, work, and family commitments.Up to three credits toward a high school diploma can be earned injust 9 weeks. Our credit courses lead to college, university,Yorkdale certification programs or directly to employment. Ourstudents are eligible for additional credits (PLAR) to fulfill therequirements of an OSSD. 

Personal Trainer Certificate(New!)A new personal trainer certificate program in our new facility helpsstudents complete their high school diploma while gaining theskills and qualifications to become a personal trainer. Courses inkinesiology, fitness, leadership, business, and co-op will prepareyou in this exciting field.

Coop, Business and TechnologyWe have a new Business I.T. certificate program (Fast Forward). In our technology programs,you can learn computer skills including Microsoft Office, computer networking, programming, & ITsupport. Computerized accounting, Web Design, and Cisco Academy are other program options.Many Business and Entrepreneurship courses are also available.

HairstylingYorkdale offers a great one year tuition free program. Learn the valuable technical skills and theoryneeded to earn a certificate. Practice hands-on skills in the classroom on fellow classmatesand clients during client days. This program offers a Co-op/OYAP component in a salon where youwill gain the essential skills necessary for employment.

Personal Support Worker and Child Care AssistantPSW-You will earn a Personal Support Worker certificate in 27 weeks as well as nine credits towardyour high school diploma.Child Care Assistant- An 18-week program consisting of learning about the developmental stagesfrom birth to 6 years old.  Earn six credits toward your high school diploma.   

Introduction to Health CareThis new package (3 credits, one quad) is an introduction to health care in Ontario and can supportstudents to prepare them for the special certificate programs offered at Yorkdale or other futurecareers in health care. ENG3C is the only prerequisite.

Student Life - Where You Belong

Yorkdale Student Services provides support for ourstudents. There are lunchtime workshops on topics such aspreparing for post-secondary education, OSAP,apprenticeship, job search strategies and preparing for jobinterviews. Counsellors are available to assist you incharting the pathway toward the career of your dreams. Wehave annual career/job and college fairs. We have a SocialWorker who offers private counselling by appointment onsite. Topics such as mental health, harm reduction, andhealthy relationships are addressed through counselling.Employers and community agencies visit to provideinformation on jobs and other community assistance.Weoffer a wide selection of Grade 9-12 courses for all pathwaysas well as specialty courses/programs.

What Sets Us Apart

We have Wi-Fi throughout our school building. The school'sResource Centre has books, journals and computers forstudent use. Our on-site cafeteria has healthy and deliciousselections at an affordable price. Yorkdale is located nearbus and subway stops and is surrounded by great shoppingand restaurants. There is a subsidized day care on siteoperated by the City of Toronto. An OSSD is earned afterthirty credits are successfully completed. If you have been toschool elsewhere, held a job, raised children, immigrated toCanada or had other learning experiences, you may applyfor Prior Learning Assessment & Recognition (PLAR) as amature student and be awarded up to 26 credits towardsyour diploma. This process allows many adult students toearn a diploma in less than one year.

Parent and Community Engagement

There are four registration periods a year and each term lasts nineweeks. Check our website to learn the date of the next registrationsession. You must be free to attend school every day, Monday toFriday, two hours for each class you choose. The first class of theday begins at 8:25a.m. and the last class starts for 1:15p.m.  In thecommunity, we have many co-op employer partners and manyagency partners to support students outside of academics.
