Our student body is dramatically different from other Ontario universities in many ways.
York has a relatively high proportion of – female students;– older students; and – students from historically disadvantaged groups including – visible minorities, and first generation students

The estimated family incomes of York students are among the lowest in the province.
A large majority of our students spend a great deal of time working for pay.
At the same time, they are risk averse with a lower proportion applying for OSAP and graduating with debt.
