MY STORY

After pursuing a degree in International Business and working in a “boring office environment,” I decided to follow my heart and complete a degree in Interior Design. I married my college love, had two beautiful daughters, and opened my own design business, GreenSpirational Interiors. Life should have been great, but I was struggling with chronic pain throughout my body. Years of mainstream practices failed me, so I sought alternative options. This holistic journey not only healed my pain, but also led me toward extensive research about toxicity and how it affects our health and the environment. Yoreganics is my reflection of the days of yore, long ago, when life was simple and cleaning was natural.

My mission is to share what I have learned in order to encourage a happier, healthier and greener lifestyle - not just for my family and friends, but for you and yours.

If you are not comfortable with this, you can use the soap nut liquid.

Soap nuts have been used for centuries as a natural cleaner.

You can use the quick or concentrated liquid for any of these applications - just mix water with the soap nuts or soap nut

liquid and voila… a chemical free & green clean! There are no “official” directions, so be creative and experiment to see what works best for you and your application. Healthy for people, pets and the planet!

DIRECTIONS: Mix appropriate amount of soap nuts or liquid per application. SEE Making Soap Nut Liquid pg.

QUICK LIQUID: Add 1 soap nut per 2 cups of water (hot if possible), shake for a few minutes & you’re done. CONCENTRATED LIQUID RATIO: add approx 2 tsp for every gallon of water. (1/8 tsp per 1 cup or 8 oz.)

FROZEN CUBES: fill ice cube trays or mini containers with soap nut liquid (2 Tbsp per cube) & freeze.

JEWELRY- A sparkle without toxins! Make a quick liquid or use concentrated liquid (1/8 tsp concentrated) mixed with 2 cups of water. Let jewelry soak for a few minutes, then gently wash/scrub item and dry with cloth. CARPET SHAMPOO CLEANER - Cleans, removes odors & leaves no residue! Stop using those nasty chemicals which leave a residue build up & attract more dirt! Pre-treat stains with our STAIN REMOVER. Add a wash bag of 3 soap nuts with the hot water into the container for your cleaner. Shake/agitate for a few minutes, turn machine on and wash. For concen-

trated liquid—add aprox 1 tsp per gallon of water. To boost the cleaning power, add 2 Tbsp of BRIGHTENS & WHITNES to the water (do not use B&W on silk or wool carpet)

CLOTH DIAPERS: Some prefer using the soap nut liquid vs. the soap nuts if they are concerned about having no soap in the rinse cycle. This will insure a completely clean water rinse. See pg on Making Soap Nut Liquid. The majority of cloth diaper users enjoy using the soap nuts direct. Do what works best for you!

GENERAL HOUSEHOLD- clean your fruits/veggies, windows, countertops, sinks & more! Add 1 soap nut to 8 oz spray bottle, shake, spray & wash! OR: mix 8 oz water with 1/8 tsp soap nut liquid.

DISHWASHER - Tie a wash bag of 5 soap nuts to dish rack or utensil tray (don’t block the wash arm). Make sure they are contained so they don’t get loose and clog up the DW. You can fill the rinse aid dispenser with vinegar as a natural rinse.

NOTE: the soap nuts & vinegar will not remove dried/baked on food.. Before you add dishes to dishwasher, you can sprinkle them with baking soda & do a quick scrub. Liquid option: Add 2 Tbsp of concentrated soap nut liquid in dispenser.

CAR WASH - give your car a green clean - leaves no toxic run off water! Mix loose soap nuts or concentrated liquid with a pail of water and wash away!

LAUNDRY- Hand washing: use 1 tsp concentrated soap nut liquid for every gallon of water. Or use the Quick Liquid Option by shaking soap nuts in water & agitating clothes. Standard washing machine: 1/2 cup concentrated liquid. HE high

efficiency: 1/4 cup into dispenser.

CAMPING - Don’t pollute campgrounds. Take memories, leave footprints (& biodegradable soap nuts)! Create soap nut liquid, quick or concentrated, for cleaning and bathing! Safe for people, pets & planet. Great in lakes when bathing!

SHAMPOO & WASH - people & pets. Will not lather like standard shampoos, however it cleans wonderfully! Keep out of eyes—it will sting like any natural soap! Mix 2 cups water with 1/8 tsp concentrated liquid and pour over hair/body.

HOW TO MAKE SOAP NUT LIQUID OR SOAP NUT “TEA”

RATIO: 2:1 Use 2 soap nuts per 1 cup of water - hot if possible. STORAGE: Store in an airtight jar with lid in a cool, dry place or refrigerator. OR make frozen cubes. SHELF LIFE: 2-3 days in liquid form, as there are no preservatives. Frozen cubes—will last for a year. SCENTS/ANTIBACTERIAL: Add a couple drops of essential oils to add aromatherapy & antibacterial properties (depending upon the oil). Lavender, orange, lime & tea tree are some popular essential oils. Never use fragrance oils that are full of harmful chemicals and phthalates (hormone disruptors)

QUICK LIQUID SOAP - no boiling required (5 minutes) Place 4 soap nuts (inside a wash bag if you don’t want to strain the liquid) in a jar with 2 cups of hot water

and let it soak for 5 minutes. Place lid on jar and shake the water with soap nuts for a few minutes to re-

lease more saponin/soap. Remove soap nuts from water. Optional step: add drops of essential oils to boost antibacterial and aromatherapy effects. This is the less concentrated version of the soap nut liquid, but it is

very effective for jewelry, carpet shampoo cleaners, windows and mirrors, fruit wash.

CONCENTRATED LIQUID SOAP - boiling water (30-60 minutes) Place 8 soap nuts in 4 cups of water (use wash bag or nylon if you don’t want to strain the liquid soap from the soap nuts) , bring to a gentle boil for 10 minutes, and let simmer for aprox 30-60 minutes. Allow to

cool, strain if necessary, and pour into an airtight jar or make frozen cubes*. Optional step: add drops of essential oils to boost antibacterial and aromatherapy effects. For a more con-

centrated soap, you can increase the amount of soap nuts to water ratio. This soap nut tea will be golden

yellow in color. Make sure to store in a cool dry place. It will last between 2-3 days because there are no preservatives.

*FREEZE the soap nut liquid into an ice cube tray or small containers so they will last for a year.

MEASURING INFO: 2 Tbsp = 1 oz

PRE SOAK DISSOLVE* 1 to 5 oz powder per gallon of warm/hot water in a separate pail, laundry tub or standard washing machine. Strength of solution and length of soak time depends on how soiled the items are. SOAK TIME: 30 min. up to 6 hrs (most dramatic results). Repeat if necessary. Follow with complete wash cycle. If you have a

HE (high efficiency) machine, you may choose a Pre-Soak button on your machine, but it will only add aprox 20-40 minutes of soak time. Otherwise, you can choose to soak your items in a separate laundry tub or pail for a longer period of time. REMOVE RESIDUE BUILD UP - CLOTH DIAPERS, TOWELS & MORE!

laundry. If using cold water, make sure to dissolve powder in a jar of 16 oz of warm/hot water and then

pour into the tub of cold water. However, it will not be as effective in cold water.

For HE machines, use 1/2 oz to 1 oz powder per load. Dissolve it into a jar of 16 oz of warm/hot wa-

ter, then pour into the liquid bleach dispenser in your machine. Or if your HE machine has an external

powdered bleach dispenser, you may add it there. You may want to contact the maker of your machine

to see what they suggest for powdered bleach.

*DISSOLVE powder completely in warm/hot water (over 60 degrees) in order to activate the powder

for the most effective results.

DO NOT: Do not use on silk, wool or leather. Do not mix with chlorine bleach or acid products.

Do not leave solution (mix of water & B&W) in closed container as it may leak/burst due to oxygenation.

CARPET CLEANER DIRECTIONS

ADD 1 TBSP powder to warm/hot water (to dissolve) into the plastic tank of the machine.

Mix this solution with your carpet soap* (we recommend soap nuts of course, see below! Don't mix with

chlorine bleach or acidic cleaners )

*We HIGHLY recommend using soap nuts as your natural carpet wash. Traditional carpet soap is full of

harmful chemicals & artificial fragrances which leave a residue build up—thus attracting more dirt. See

PRECAUTIONS: Contact with skin and eyes may cause irritation. In case of contact, flush with water

and call physician. Harmful if swallowed. If swallowed, do not induce vomiting. Drink lots of water and

immediately contact physician.
