In case of emergency…
We hope this information won’t be needed, but it is certainly better to be prepared. Please take note of the two emergency exits located on either side of the bimah. In addition to these exits, there is an outside exit in the social hall and at the end of the hallway leading to the bathrooms. If an evacuation is necessary, do not congregate in the parking lot or front of the building to allow for emergency vehicles. Please proceed calmly to the playground, and assist those who may need help. Those in the Children’s Room have instructions to meet parents at the playground. In case of a tornado, the safest places to be are the bottom of the basement stairwell or in the basement away from windows.

High Holidays Babysitting
Our synagogue’s membership now includes over 75 children (and counting!). Children are welcome in the sanctuary for services as we trust that parents will be considerate of other attendees. If children are not in the babysitting program, they must be under the direct supervision of an adult. Parents may still use the Children’s Room with their children if they have not reserved a spot in babysitting.
In an effort to provide a safe environment for children and efficient use of resources, we will be requiring advanced reservations and a $5 per child per service fee for the upcoming High Holiday babysitting.

On Yom Kippur, a lunch of cheese sandwiches, applesauce, grapes, potato chips, and juice will be served for children at 11:30 a.m. Lunch costs $3 per child. Please make lunch reservations so we can plan accordingly. Your child does not need to be in babysitting to participate in the lunch.

The Story of Noam Apter: Heroism, A Natural Extension of Noam’s Life
Yossi and Pirhiya Apter will share personal stories about their son’s dedication to Judaism, to Israel and its people. In 2002, Noam Apter was one of four students murdered in a terrorist attack at Yeshivat Otniel. He was working in the kitchen preparing a Shabbat dinner for about 100 students in the dining room next door. Yossi Apter said the message he hopes to convey to is that “the decision to give your life in order to save the lives of your friends, it doesn’t come in a moment at the end of your life. It’s a way of education.”
Please RSVP for Friday night dinner by 12:00 p.m., noon on Friday, October 2nd
