Yolanda Garcia, First Responder Liaison Office of Injured Employee Counsel (OIEC) Yolanda Garcia was appointed the first responder liaison on September 1, 2017. The liaison is OIEC’s designated employee that manages the agency’s help with first responder workers’ compensation claims. Ms. Garcia is highly trained as an ombudsman and in the rights of first responders within the workers’ compensation system. She has 17 years of experience in workers’ compensation including being with OIEC since its creation in 2006. Her background in first responder specific issues, high-level dispute resolution, management, and customer service have prepared her to help with all types of disputes. In addition to her workers’ compensation knowledge, she has also worked as jail administrator for Dawson County Sheriff’s Office and as the paralegal/manager for personal injury, family, and criminal law firms. She has an associate degree from Executive College of Business/Paralegal where she double-majored in Business Administration and Paralegal, and maintains both adjuster and TECLOSE licenses. Ms. Garcia and her husband have two teenage sons, and she volunteers as a catechism teacher at her church. As a wife and sister to first responders, Mrs. Garcia considers it is an honor to assist those selfless and brave individuals who put their life on the line each day. Yolanda Garcia was appointed the first responder liaison on September 1, 2017. The liaison is OIEC’s designated employee that manages the agency’s help with first responder workers’ compensation claims.
