    What is paradigm shift

Paradigm shift (or revolutionaryscience) is the term first coined

    by Thomas Kuhn in his

influential book The Structure ofScientific Revolutions (1962) todescribe a change in basicassumptions within the ruling

theory of science. It is incontrast to his idea of normal

    science.

A radical change in thinkingfrom an accepted point of view

    to a new one, necessitated

when new scientific discoveriesproduce anomalies in the

current paradigm; A radicalchange in thinking from anaccepted point of view to a

    new belief
