ATTENDANCE
Headteachers Note
We are 3 weeks back into the new term already! I have to say how amazing the children have been in adapting to the new way we have to do things. You have received a few messages from the staff over the last few days with information about what is going on this term, google classroom information and ideas to help your child progress at home. Please make sure you read them. Next week I will be sending out a letter about school photos, breakfast club and fruit money. An automated message will go out every Sunday night to you to remind you about putting money on your parent pay account
Thanks
P. Morgan
Nursery Reception – Miss Gardiner We’ve had the most
wonderful start to the new school year. It has been fantastic to
welcome Nursery pupils into our classroom and watch our
grown up Reception pupils adapt to the longer school day. We
have enjoyed reading ‘The Huge Bag of Worries’ in class – it has
really helped us during the first few weeks back. We have made
our own worry monsters, they now live in our trays to help us
whenever we feel a little worried. We have created little cress
heads and hope they will grow, we have linked this to growing
our minds and never giving up. Lastly, we have spoken about
being kind and created leaves to stick on the kindness tree if
anyone catches us being kind. Reception have also started their
Jolly Phonics journey too, we already love singing the songs
and writing the letters. We are excited to start learning about
China next week!

Reception/Year 1 Mrs Pickering We’ve had a very busy start to our Autumn term, and
everyone has settled in really well. As part of our return to
school, we have been looking at the story ‘The Colour
Monster’ and have completed lots of lovely tasks. We had
lots of fun making our own colour monster using play
dough and loose parts. Each one looked different and was
very special. We have been practising our Welsh
vocabulary such as colours, numbers and sentence
patterns and have used these to make a class graph of
favourite colours, on the school yard. This week we have
been looking at the artist Andy Warhol and have created
our own Andy Warhol inspired Colour Monster pictures.
Please remember to take a look at our school Twitter
account where you will find lots of photos of our class and
what we get up to throughout the week.
Year 3 – Mrs D’Angeli What a fantastic transition into year
3. Mrs D'Angeli is so pleased with how well the whole class
have adapted to new routines in the juniors and how quickly
we are all settling....How grown up!
We have all thoroughly enjoyed our 'settling in' tasks. We
shared our worries about coming up to the juniors and we
also discussed plenty of things we were looking forward to,
such as playing on a huge yard!
From our lovely shared stories this week we have learnt the
importance of talking and sharing any worries we might have.
We created our own worry bags, worry monsters and
completed a book review.
Mrs ZigZag our class worry monster certainly helps us share
and deal with any worries we might have in class
What a fabulous fortnight in year 3 and so happy to be back
amongst our teachers and friends.
Year 4/5 Mrs Thomas Welcome back to school! Year 4 / 5
have settled really well into their new classroom and have
quickly got back into the swing of things. I am really impressed at
how we have all taken it in our stride, it’s like we haven’t been
away We have enjoyed a ‘Wellbeing week’ since returning to
school and focused a lot of our work / activities on our
emotional wellbeing and allowing ourselves time to get back into
class routines. We have been reading ‘The Huge Bag of Worries’
which all the children have loved listening to. Lots of our tasks
over the past 2 weeks have been linked to this book and any
worries we may have on returning to school and in day to day
life. It has been a great time for the children to think of their
feelings and strengths and how we can be excellent learners this
year. It has been lovely to see how happy all the children are
being back at school and how eager they have all been to get
straight back into learning – Da iawn!
Year 5/6 – Mrs Thomas Welcome back to school!

Pupils Voice We would like to introduce ourselves to
you all, I’m Gwen the head girl, I’m Leon the head boy, I’m
Bailey the deputy head girl and I’m Cyran the deputy head
boy. We are looking forward to taking assemblies, helping
pupils out, doing jobs for the staff and welcoming visitors
to our wonderful school. The whole school has settled in
nicely to their new classes and bubbles. We think pupils
have made new friends in their mixed classes and spending
more time with them in their bubbles. Our Book of the
term ‘The Huge Bag of Worries’ has been a nice start to
the term and has brought the school together. Everyone is
enjoying their new classes and they are working hard and
helping each other. We are looking forward to the next
few weeks and months ahead.
Year 2 – Miss Evans Welcome back to a new school year. The
children have had an amazing first week back and have all settled well
with the new routines we have had to follow. The children were very
sensible when creating suitable class rules to follow. Our class book
'The Colour Monster' was a huge hit and they had fun painting and
drawing their own emotion monsters. They filled jars with pictures of
things that made them feel each of the emotions introduced in the
book too. We have shared many wellbeing stories focussing on
worries that they may have. We then voted for our favourite story
and created a graph using J2data in pairs and small groups. Ruby's
Worry was the winner! We have also been practicing forming our
letters and numbers correctly as this is very important. Please
remember to send your children's reading book and/or sounds folder
in every day. P.E. will be every Wednesday, please wear jogging
bottoms, trainers and a polo shirt on this day in order to limit bringing
extra items in to school.
