“YESHUA, the Musical” is 30 minutes long, crafted to fit perfectly into any service. That may seem short for this epic story, but, in it’s first few weeks of touring, it has already proven to be more than enough time for hundreds of people to fall in love for the first time with the Hero of the story! Reviews of the Sanborns’ collaborations: “…Many beautifully wrought songs… I find it especially rewarding when every element is scrupulously conceived and put together…The person of Christ Jesus was made more pointed in the musical. The Son of God was demystified by being changed from the quiet, ethereal personage of the film into a gregarious, warm and wise Son of Man…The musical left a warm impression and seems ready for Broadway.” -The Flying Inkpot Theatre Reviews “The songs… are so catchy and memorable that you’ll be humming them on your way out of the auditorium.” -MTV (Asia) ______________________________________________________________________ [email protected] 1-813-713-1043 WWW.YeshuaTheMusical.ORG :LWK ÀHUFH FRPSDVVLRQ +H JDYH XS HYHU\WKLQJ KH KDG )URP WKH DVKHV KH DURVH DQG DFFRPSOLVKHG ZKDW QR RQH WKRXJKW SRVVLEOH <(6+8$« :KR GR \RX VD\ WKDW KH LV"

THE NEW YORK TIMES ACCLAIMED MOTHER-SON TEAM:

Ellen Sanborn began her singing career opening for such legends as Ella Fitzgerald, Cleo Lane and Sarah Vaughan. She turned down the offer of a major recording & touring contract, however, in order to serve as a missionary in Southeast Asia for more than 20 years with her husband, Art, and their 3 children: Sean (missionary to Thailand), Michelle (medical doctor to the U.S. Army), and David (actor, singer, and Ellen’s co-writer). Since then, her focus in music has been leading worship and discipling a new generation of worship leaders, which she has done in partnership with Jimmy

and Carol Owens, Hosanna Integrity’s Paul Baloche, Hillsong’s Darlene Zschech and others.

David M. Sanborn has portrayed ancient heroes for hundreds of thousands of people throughout the USA, plus countless thousands more on 5 continents: as Jesus Christ in THE MIRACLE, and the title roles in JUDAH BEN-HUR and KING DAVID, off-Broadway. The latter 2 musicals were co-written and presented by Ellen & David, and, as of 2012, they now offer a 3rd touring production: YESHUA, the Musical. David reprises the role of Jesus and Ellen portrays the role of the Narrator, Mary Magdalene. David can also be seen in movie theaters nationwide

this coming winter in “The Investigator.” Reviews of the Sanborns’ collaborations:

“Beautiful and ingenious… It is nothing short of amazing… David Sanborn takes the lead role of Judah Ben Hur, and with his clear diction and rich

baritone, you will have no problems warming to this veteran actor’s performance. Ellen Sanborn has a clear, confident voice that brims with emotion, a testament to a wealth of experience honed from a career that began on London’s West End some 30

years ago. ” - GET ASIA MAGAZINE Theatre Reviews  “This family friendly show – the book and songs are a collaboration between the good-

looking, hard-working Mr. Sanborn and his mother, Ellen, who also directed it… (is) set to prerecorded music and overflowing with lush arrangements, to say nothing of Mr.

Sanborn’s impassioned vocals onstage. The actor, who has been touring with this production for 12 years, draws from a seemingly limitless well of feeling.”

“YESHUA, THE MUSICAL” DAVID  M.  SANBORN  PORTRAYS  JESUS  AGAIN  IN  A  NEW  MUSICAL  WITH  ELLEN  SANBORN    Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. April 9, 2012 – David M. Sanborn, who has been seen by hundreds of thousands of people in the role of Jesus Christ in the multi-million dollar hit musical, “The Miracle,” has returned to the same role in a new musical called “Yeshua.”

David is joined by his mother, long-time missionary Ellen Sanborn, who honed her skills on London’s West End. She plays the role of Mary, the narrator. Their past collaborations have garnered accolades from The New York Times, MTV (Asia), Elle Magazine (Asia), Backstage and many others.

They flew half-way around the world to stage the World Premier of “Yeshua” in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in Easter of 2012. With thousands of people in attendance and standing room only, the house managers had to turn people away at the door. Hundreds of people gave their hearts to the Lord for the first time.

“Most scripts about Jesus focus more on the what He did,” Ellen said. “While we do depict the most important elements of that story, we wanted to focus more on the ‘who’ factor. Who is this that captured the hearts of the people, long before He made the ultimate sacrifice on the cross?”

“Yeshua” is just 30 minutes long, so that it fits easily into any service. In the Fall of 2012, Ellen and David will be touring “Yeshua” throughout the U.S.A., from the reaches of Florida to Hawaii. YESHUA: Synopsis

Words and Music by Ellen and David M. Sanborn

(All-Caps in brackets indicate song titles)

The Narrator introduces us to the hero of our story, "[1.'PROLOGUE: YESHUA'], a mysterious man, the most kind-hearted ever known ... With boldness he showed compassion, with passion, defended the weak. And none could deny that this one single life would rewrite all of history."

The lights reveal Yeshua, telling stories to his followers, stories of hidden treasures and careless mansions. He challenges them with these parables, saying, "Invest your life in what will last. Though the rest may point at you and laugh, You will find that when you're done no one will overcome you, for I've come to [2.'GIVE LIFE'], more vibrant than you've ever lived life ... for eternity starts right now, today."

The Narrator tells how a group of local councilmen, threatened by Yeshua's popularity, brought before him an adulterous woman, whom we discover is actually the narrator of our story herself. She says how the councilmen told Yeshua that he must either condemn her to death by stoning, or Yeshua must admit that he is a rebel against the Law. [3-A. 'YESHUA - 1st REPRISE']

Yeshua replies, "Come and throw your stones if there's one of you who's never sinned. [3-B.'ONE BY ONE'], the men leave in shame, until none remain." Yeshua then says to the adulterous woman, "Child, where are your accusers? Is there none to testify?" She replies, "Only you, and if you must, then let me die." He says, "Child, I see none condemn you; Nor do I ... Go your way and sin no more."

Yeshua now unveils his mission, saying, "[5.'BY HEAVEN'S LOVE'], I'll rescue my creation; For I am God's perfect Son. And by my death, I'll conquer condemnation, and overcome by heaven's love."

The Narrator tells of her response and that of Yeshua's other followers, "When Yeshua described to us, how He would die for us, we couldn't fathom at all. He said he'd be crucified, then on the third day rise; we said, ‘No, never, Lord!’ But His focus would not be altered. His purpose was perfectly clear. And in His last moments, He opened his heart for his Father alone to hear." [6-A.'YESHUA- 2nd REPRISE']

"[6-B.'NOW MY TIME HAS COME']", Yeshua prays out, "I have no fear of death. It's not the whips I dread. It's not the cross that haunts what I must do; But to be apart from you tears my heart in two... If there's any possibility, Take this cup from me... but may your will be done."

"With fists held up high in the mist of the night, Roman soldiers arrested Yeshua. Imprisoning Him, they insisted he led all his kindred to crown him as Emperor. They beat him and called him traitor. Perjurers testified. With hatred and jealousy, anger and falsity, they then condemned him to die." [7-A.'YESHUA- 3rd REPRISE'] The Romans crucify Yeshua, but death could not hold him down, and he rises again on the third day. [7-B. 'THEY TOOK HIM DOWN']
