Year 9: Module 1-‐ Memories 1.1 Tonal Drawing In art, tone refers to the amount of lightness or darkness of an area. Tone varies from the bright white of a light source through shades of grey to the deepest black shadows. 1.2 Colouring Pencil Techniques
1.3: Elements and Principles of Art Art elements are the ingredients in making a great work of art. The principles of art, are the ways in which the elements or ingredients are used or mixed.
1.4: Colour Theory
1.5/6 :Pop Art Pop art is an art movement that was created in the UK and the States during the late 1950s. The movement presented a challenge to the traditions of fine art b including imagery of popular and mas culture, such as advertising, comic books and cultural objects. Pop Art began as a revolt against the popular approaches to art and cultural views on what art should be. Young artists felt that what tey were taught at art school and what they saw in museums did not have anything to do wit their lives or the things they saw around them every day. Instead they turned to sources such as Hollywood movies, advertising, product packaging, pop music and comic books for imagery. Pop Art Techniques:
• Take inspiration from daily Life • Remove the subject from its original context • Use vivid colours • Do not be afraid to add irony and satire

Keywords and Spellings: Media: refers to the materials that used to create a work of art. Colour Theory: guidance to colour mixing and the visual effects of a specific colour combination. Subject Matter: what the artist has chosen to paint, draw or sculpt. ( subject matter in art; landscape, portrait or still life) Composition: is the placement or arrangement of visual elements in a work of art. Theme:: universal ideas explored in a work of art. Symbolism: The practice of using symbols especially by investing things with a symbolic meaning. Mood: a state of mind or feelings that a work of art generates when looking at it. Style: describes the way the artwork looks. Style is basically the manner in which the artist portrays his or her subject matter and how the artist expresses their own vision.
