In order to calculate the Standard of Excellence Awards for Grade 10, 11, and 12, the criteria for the Alexander Rutherford Scholarship criteria is used. At each grade level, five subjects are used for the calculation: an English Language Arts course, two other academic subjects, and any other two subjects (minimum of 3 credits) at the grade level. Three 1-credit CTS modules can be combined to make a 3-credit subject for Grade 10 and 11 and a 5-credit subject for Grade 12. The monies are awarded by Grade level and by percentage as shown below.

Grade Average of 75.0% to 79.9%: Grade 10 - $300; Grade 11 – $500; Grade 12 - $700

Grade Average of 80% or over: Grade 10 - $400; Grade 11 - $800; Grade 12 – $1300 9

UNSUNG HERO SCHOLARSHIP for a graduating student who has demonstrated excellence in extracurricular service to the school and to the community with little recognition. This scholarship is to honour the legacy of Mr. Dale Smith’s inspirational leadership at Paul Kane High School. “Curtain’s Up” Scholarship for significant contribution to the theatre Arts program at Paul Kane High School for more than one year and perhaps in the community.

PAUL KANE HIGH SCHOOL CREDIT SCHOLARSHIP

1. All credits must be acquired at Paul Kane High School to be counted toward the scholarship

2. 120 credits $ 500 130 credits $ 750 140 credits $1000

3. Credits must be acquired by June 30 of graduation year.

4. Credits acquired in 3-year period starting June 30 at end of grade 9 and ending June 30 at end of grade 12.

5. Challenge course credit:

5-credit challenge courses count as 2 credits

3-credit challenge courses count as 1 credit 6. Each credit achieved in Work Experience and RAP

will count as a ½ credit toward the scholarship. 7. Student must have fulfilled high school graduation

requirements. 8. Student must be in good standing financially at Paul

Kane. 9. The Paul Kane High School Credit Scholarship will

be reviewed on an annual basis. The funding for the scholarship may be adjusted if the provincial funding model changes.

10. The Paul Kane administration is the final authority on scholarship decisions based on the criteria.

11. Cheques are payable to the student and will be issued by October 30 of the graduation year.
